Not sure on the price (as it was a gift), but it's a 1999 Ed Van Hoy/Mike Norris, 3&3/4 inch bladed Drop-point Hunter, with Norris "Raindrop stainless steel damascus", pre-ban elephant ivory scales, and Eggerling "Mosaic damascus" bolsters. It's truly a work of art!
The most I've spent so far is $400 for a Microtech Scarab. But the one worth the most (now) is the Benchmade 43-401 (both of them). Paid $300 each, could easily sell for $400+ now.
Probably the Randall's that I own are worth more and are certainly the easiest to liquidate should I desire to sell them. Noticed a Jack Crider Special sold for $421 in the last week on ebay. This is one of the reasons I buy Randall's.
When I was ten, 32 years ago, my great grandmother bought me my first pocketknife. A Sabre brand penknife, at the original Bass Pro store in Springfield Mo. for about 10$. I still have it and its in very good shape. As far as value goes, its just about priceless to me for all the memories it holds of a very special lady who was a big influence in my life. Its not for sale and I wouldn't trade it for dozen Sebbies, or anything else for that matter.
I guess that only proves that value is a relative thing.
I guess the most expensive would be my original Lile 7" fighter at around $1000. Have many other straights & folders-customs- in the $400-$900
range.
My wife thinks I'm out of my mind for the $ I have in knives, and I'm beginning to think shes right.
By the way my edc is a BM 710 or an Al Mar SERE 2000, each about 150 bucks.
Most expensive one I have now is my BM 35 Custom, that just got here the other day. I shelled out some bucks for an EK Bowie in 98-99(?), that got sold along with most my old collection. I'm delving into custom balis next month.
