What's the most expensive knife you have?

Folder would be either a My Tighe or a first year Gerber Paul folder one owner (me:D ) ivory micarta handle. Fixed Blade would be a 1970"s Ence boot knife with nickle silver clip and trim on the sheath and a silver wrapped carved ivory micarta handle.

The most I payed for a knife was $1550 for a Barry Davis folder about 9 or 10 yrs.ago.The most valuable may be the Michael Walker folder which cost me about $1100 also the same time.

Since i'm a relative newbie to collecting, i don't have a very extensive *or* expensive (by more serious knife knuts) collection, it's a tie between my Spyderco Harpy and Dodo for most expensive, both retailed for $80, of the two, i'd have to give the nod to the Dodo as i paid the full $80 for it, the Harpy cost me $20 because i traded in some knives i didn't like towards the purchase price

i honestly don't see going much over $80 for any of my knives, i concentrate more on functional *users* than collecting them just to have....

i did look at a Benchmade 550 Grip (i think that's what it was, the store had a black model and a purple scaled model) just to see what the fuss about the Axis lock was, and it wasn't a bad knife, smooth opening, very solidly built, i can understand the attraction with BM knives now, i may *eventually* get one, but i'm in no hurry, after all, the ball bearing lock on my Dodo is very similar

the current collection is...

Keyring hardware;
Spyderco Jester/Photon combo
Leatherman Squirt P4
Leatherman Micra

other knives (most to least expensive)
Spyderco SS SE Harpy
Spyderco blue G-10 SE Dodo
Spyderco SS PE Cricket
Spyderco Native
Spyderco Dyad Jr
Victorinox Spartan Lite
Kershaw Scallion

Not too sure which is most expensive (if you were to buy it today) -
Sog Tigershark in carbon steel (S5?)
Sog Tech
Warner-Moran rio grande bowie
Gerber bmf
Gerber lmf
2 Iron Mountain Knife Works skinners
2 G10 and ATS-34 William Henry's
Swamp Rat Battle Rat (mint)

Jeezuz, now I know i'm obsessive when I have to think about this -

Mad Dog Saxon - $3,000 - it's a small sword, i know....

Mad Dog Dhao Shi - very limited run, I'm not telling what I paid for one, but the other guy to get one (only 12, and ten were kept by the commissioning guy) paid about $3900

I have several other MD blades in the $2K range, all of them outstanding performers - I think the Dhao is my only safe queen. I've used the Sax to cut a damned goat in half, which is quite a mess to clean up.

Here's a pic of the Dhao - the handle is a laminated red and black composite similar to G10, the blade is 01 tool steel, the clip has a flying false edge which is ground so that it would continue past the clip. It was ground freehand and is in virtually all respects identical to its eleven siblings.

The Dhao sports a 12-inch blade and is amazingly light and agile in the hand. Due to its genesis, I will have trouble doing any active cutting with it, but I am pretty sure at some point the temptation will become too much to resist.

If I can find it, I'll put up a pic of the goat and Saxon.

Parker shut us all up all right, didn't he? Hats off to him!

Nobody's mentioned Japanese kitchen knives... a yanagiba from Masamoto is the only one of my knives which has cracked the 4-digit ceiling.

I think I paid like $165 each for my Dalton Dragon and Rung Sat.

BM 31 only cost me $100 shipped, but it is in pretty good shape, and is probably worth around 2 bills.

The most expensive knife I currently own is my Cabela's Alaskan Guide Buck 110. It was about $76.00 shipped.

The most expensive knife that I have ever bought was a Spyderco G-10 Police. I paid $140.00 for it.
I later traded it here on the forums.

I have decided that I will never pay more than $100.00 dollars for a knife ever again.

Most expensive knife? The Dialex designed Komondor, made by DMKnives.

It's the pic in my avatar.

Got 4 Survivors by Robert Parrish paid between $450 for the cheapest, and $800 (with shipping from England) for the last.

I have 2 that were made by and given to me by Mike Cooper, now that he has quit making I imagine that they will be worth a lot someday, but I learned growing up that you do not sell what was given as a gift, so gotta hold onto those.

My most expensive knife is my CRK Large Regular Sebenza....never leave home without it.

Surefire Bravo. $260! Great self-defense knife, but I didn't see the point on spending that much on a knife that is illegal where I live. Sold it on ebay for $290.

Randall #12 Confederate bowie with a blk. micarta handle and brass butt cap and guard.

Interesting thread... Paid the most, probably this one. It went up in value considerably since I bought it from him, as he's stopped making (???) and not to many made it into civie's hands.

Worth the most would probably be this one, given to me as a gift. There are only 2 in existence that I know of, and neither I, nor Sylvester Stallone, are likely to give ours up. I don't even want to know what it's worth, so I won't ever be tempted.

For me, it's probably a Benchmade Mini Skirmish LE. Total impulse purchase after seeing it in the display at a local shop. Sad part is, I sort of know what I want (I guess it's considered a custom) and I'm still trying to justify the cost. Got to bookmark this thread so that I won't feel so bad if I finally get around to ordering it (by looking at the other, way more costly knives being posted here). :D

Mine would be my $400 (if I remember correctly) Ivory and Damascus Boot knife from Gene Martin. Steven
