whats the most you ever paid for a knife?

Some of you guys must be in MUUUUUUUUUUUCH better financial positions than I ever would LIKE to be in........

2-3k on a knife? And don't get me wrong..... I know how it is, I'm a musician and honestly, sometimes the $4,000 Les paul truly sounds and feels incredible..... But lets be honest, What makes a $2,000 knife that much better than say a GOOD $500.00 knife? Visual joy? Again, not trying to insult just trying to understand where the extra value comes in.

Same reason could be said about almost anything. Some people spend $2,000 on pens. It's usually the exclusiveness, pride of ownership, and sometimes it can be allocated as an investment, because you can usually sell them for the same amount or higher than you bought them for.

$3600 on folder
$3300 on fixblade
If i was billionaire i'm sure i would spend much more :)

275.00 for a BenchMade 42. Close to that or maybe a bit more for a Stek Damascus fighter but I can't remember exactly.

The folder below is worth every penny. I think you either "get it" or you don't as far as owning masterpieces, and the world is big enough for both kinds of people. Some spend it on their kids, some on nice cars, some on art some on exotic vacations. I spend my money on knives (and my wife on her purses and so forth). It is why I'm on food stamps - between food and knives, I'm spending on blades.

The most I've spent so far is this custom Marifone ($2.2k):

But the most valuable knife I own is this Fisk bowie (scored for $2k):

Dull photos, I know

That is some score on the Bowie and I don't think I could ever use that marifone it must make you proud to own it tho and be a true crowned jewel of your collection
Also what you said is so very true I already stated I probly wouldn't ever spend more than 500$ on a knife but a computer I'd spend grands on n never look back I actually just spent 1.8k on a custom laptop that
still could use a few upgrades

most i've ever spent was a measly $78 for my BK-9... on it's way.... i know it's nothing compared to you guys, but it is the first of what i call my "aficionado knives" and the true start of my collection, though i already have 20+ as it is, somehow they don't count in my mind, so here i am a newbie on this BA forum looking in at awe of your jewels. That said I'm probably only going to buy 1 or 2 true collectors pieces/shelf drewllers and i don't know how much they will cost, they will be custom blades and they will be made by a respected hand, i only hope they turn out as nice as some of the ones in this thread, this thread is like a place where all of your good dreams go to haunt you with the reality of you checking account...

Considering how long I've been collecting/accumulating, I should have passed the $500 mark by now. Not yet. I did spend $475 on a William Henry folder, using a bonus from work.
