What's the Sharpest and Dullest knives you've received out of the box

Sharpest production: Microtech Mini Socom Elite.
Sharpest overall: Shosui Takeda knives in Aogami Super Blue steel (both of the ones I purchased came hair popping/tree topping).
Honorable mention: Tesshu Mioroshi kitchen knife in white paper steel.
Dullest: Machetes and the occasional Bussekin or Himilayan Imports - but I expect it now and keep getting more so I guess I don’t care that much. :)

The sharpest out of the box was my Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1. The dullest was a Queen Cutlery trapper. I swear that when they put the factory edge on, the ground perpendicular to the edge.

I recently bought a used “new” Hinderer Eklipse Bowie that had what looked like an untouched, unused factory edge but is extremely dull. No way it could cut paper. Cardboard maybe, but it wouldn’t be a clean cut that’s for sure lol
Sharpest…. Idk maybe my PM2s, but all my other $150+ knives I own come plenty sharp too

Sharpest? That’s a tough one…either the LUDT, my Chaparral, but I do have a couple Fallkniven folders that would give them a run for their money.

Dullest? I’m gonna agree with AntDog AntDog and go with my Large CV Sodbuster…which was easily remedied.

The sharpest probably is a tossup between Buck, Moki, and Spyderco. They've always had pretty fair sharpness out of the box.

The dullest was pretty much every Queen knife I ever purchased. (And I purchased quite a few.)
Queen was infamous for their butter knife edges.

Sharpest: two standard Buck 110s I acquired in 2021.
Dullest: a tie between any of the knockoff swiss army knives I've encountered and the pathetic thing sak-alike that Dollar General sells.

Sharpest-- A Spyderco Ladybug in ZDP-189.

Dullest-- An Opinel #12, shipped without an actual edge, apparently.

Sharpest was a Spyderco VG-10 Delica. Unlike others that just felt sharp (a biting feel on your skin), this one had a sticky feel (meaning the edge was sinking into your skin at the lightest pressure.) And it could pop hanging hair.

Dullest was a Chinese-made Balisong.

Sharpest: Bradford Pairing knife in aeb-l, .010 behind the edge.
Dullest: Super cheap kershaw necker.

Dullest= pretty much any of my machete, since they tend to come without a finished edge.

Sharpest would have to be one of my Good Kife Co and @David Mary knives.
Totally agree on the machete they have always been dull, but for 1 the Cold Steel Katana Matchete .
Sharpest anything I ever got from Cold Steel. Medford as well.

I can’t recall the sharpest, but the dullest stick out…RHK showing off “Hinderer sharp” on all three

The Chap's geometry is so sharp... got it used, picked it up and went to cut some paper "Oh, it's sharp!".

I put it on my fingernail and it starts wheeling around like a drunk on a moto-scooter, it isn't sharp at all! It's just so thin, that it can still cut well and give the illusion of sharpness. So, I sharpened it, and now it's even better.

So good.

YES! This is the feeling I have been trying to describe.

Dullest was my K Sabatier carbon, they're notorious for poor factory edges and mine did not disappoint.
Sharpest was a Muella that was gifted to me, that edge would cut into skin with the lightest touch. I can free hand a knife to pop hair but I cannot duplicate that edge as much as i try.

Sharpest: Spyderco in general (of course) but also my Hogue Deka Magnacut was rediculously sharp. (The poly scales make the knife feel like trash though)
Rough Ryder knives are (tiniest bit) toothy but hair shaving sharp

Dullest: Gerber Fastball with a thiiiiick lopsided grind and every damn Case knive I used to buy before swearing them off and moving to Boker and others.
I've received more absolute trash edges on Case knives than all my other knives combined.

Sharpest - Every single knife, chopper, and sword I've ever received from CPK. My K-18 still scares the crap outta me, and you don't "play" around with my UF2 or LC unless ya wanna get a good cut!

Dullest - A before GSM Cold Steel Natchez bowie with a Dull-Ex sheath that someone had unsheathed and re-sheathed a couple times, so the blade was a butter knife. I returned it and walked away. I'm not going to reward that sheath design!
