What's The Sharpest Factory Edge You've Seen?

They sure are. They are razors with handles. Spyderco and Al Mar knives sure are very sharp too.

Buck Mayo Waimea. Have cut myself with this knife more times than I care to mention. It is a Freekin Razor right from the factory....

I like those Buck Mayo knives. I heard they are heat treated by Paul Bos. I guess they will go on my "to buy list".

Right out of the box? Oddly enough, it was a Cold Steel Voyager, followed by a few Spydercos. But fortunately it's easy enough to sharpen a knife to the edge you want, and for holding that edge... Benchmade, and Al Mar!

As far as knives that were perfect for USING, I'd say my Sebenzas. But the sharpest, and only knives that would pop hair without touching skin, my Spydercos were the sharpest out of the box. Believe it or not, my Native III is the sharpest Knife I've ever owned. I bought a couple of mini Grips for my bro and sis n' law, and I just cut newspaper with them to check 'em out... they could push cut newspaper with NO problem.. They are the reason a BM is next on my short list.

Al Mar knives are not cheap, but they are made very well, and are worth every penny. The best liner locks I have ever seen, lock is like a tank.

Straight over the counter, out of the box my Wally World Native, Endura 3 and Delica 3 were (and are) incredibly sharp; have yet to see a Spyderco that wasn't acceptably sharp out of the box. Possibly the sharpest was a 552M2-600 Ritter Grip- one of the sharpest slicers I've ever seen. Only requires a couple of passes on the white sharpmaker stones to bring it back to scary sharp. Kershaw Damascus Leek was no slouch out of the box either.

Yeah they are. I have a Mini Sere and a Nomad. I have handled a Shiva, and that is one of the nicest knives I have ever seen. The cheapest I have seen it is $288. It retails for $499 though.

spydercos are easily the sharpest out of the box i have owned.

my d2 millie shaved my fingerprints off.

My Emerson CQC 15 was able to successfully split the time continuum by simply waving it through the air, thus resulting in a glimpse into the future... I saw a Busse Tank Buster and a custom folder through Ranger

Haha, actually this and my Fehrman Extreme Judgment is my sharpest out the factory. Both came hair splitting sharp, easily. Second up would be another for Spyderco and my Boker Automat Kalashnikov.

Hands down the Mora 2000. I have bought about six of them and all were at or beyond scary sharp. Close second, a Marbles 4 inch Fixed and a Byrd Cara Cara. I have a New Schrade Four inch fixed that's amazingly sharp as well. I won't buy a knife that is not sharp in a store and If I get one online that is not sharp, it goes back. I will not pay for a dull knife.

+1 on the Puukkos from Kellam Knives - I bought this one on impulse from Jouni at a gunshow a few years back and it was (and still is...) scary sharp.

Just because Sebenzas are super expensive doesn't mean that they come with the sharpest blades. Some people prefer "working" edges and it's a simpler matter for them to sharpen a working edge than to take a wickedly sharp edge and turn it into a working edge.

The sharpest knives out of the box I've seen are the Cold Steel Voyagers and the Night Force, which came with a 440A blade. The Spyderco Native wasn't quite as sharp, and my Alaskan Buck 110 S30V blade was disappointingly not sharp. Still, it only took a few swacks across some ceramic rods to make it wickedly so.

I've heard other complaints about Sebenzas not being very sharp out of the box. Again, it may be intentional. How well did it sharpen up after you got it?

Every Spyderco I have received has been sharp. Not one of them made me say "gee that's not really sharp".

I don't have experience with that many other brands, but of the ones that I do have experience with (Benchmade, Kershaw, Victorinox, Gerber, Schrade, Buck), the Spydercos take the prize.
