What's the story behind forum names?

Excuse me for reviving an old thread but there are new members and some who haven't responded that I would like to know the meaning of their handles.

When I first signed up I put in Chilly Willy and it didn't take so I reloaded the page and put my real name and it took.

Thanks for reviving and old thread David, it's interesting to see how the people got their handles. Mine isn't to imaginative, my last name is King! The rest is self explanatory.

It's the initials for my naval enlisted code: Special Amphibeous Reconnaissance Corpsman. For some reason the self explanatory "Doc" wouldnt work.

A friend of mine had 'Llamedos' written on a plaque on the front of their house. It just popped into my head when i was registering.

(Read 'Llamedos' backwards for true meaning)

:
I was going to register as Tom G for my real name Tom Gerhardt.

Then I saw there was already a Tom here and used the first part of my Cherokee name Yvsa which is southern Cherokee slang for Buffalo.
My whole Cherokee name is Yvsagigagei
means Buffalo Red,which in turn translated to English means Prairie Fire.
The name was given to me by a Cherokee Elder Grandmother and has a great spiruchul meaning.

Now if Dan sees this I won't have to write that letter I keep forgetting to write.

Unimaginable enough, my screen name also consist of my real name.

I am, however, not of Scottish descent on my paternal side of the family (McSwiney's, overwhelmingly so, are indigenous to Scottland) rather we're a quite Irish crowd actually.

The MC in my screen name stands for my first (Michael) and middle (Cedric) name.

I was, therefor, named after the archangel Michael and St. Cedric (Ireland's number two patron saint right after Patrick).

David (davidb415) you are right regarding having been born on Christmas...its indeed a pain!

You have no idea as to just how many cheapskates there are out there, "Hiya Michael? Here's your Christmas/Birthday & New Year card!"

I'd rather have opted to have been born on Income Tax day such as yourself. LOL

CD Fleischer "Gruss Gott"

I, unlike your line of the family, have no qualms with my first name (thats not why they're initialed), but I'm less then thrilled by my TRULY Irish last name.

Goshawk as in bird of prey. In times of old
the yeowman was in charge of suppling the food for the Kings larder and of course used
the most efficient bird to do that. The gyr
falcon for the king and peregrine for the nobility under but to get the job done the choice went to the clean, fast, efficient
killing machine -- Goshawk
I have hunted with several birds of prey over
the years including Gyrs and Peregrines and
hybrids of the two, but none compare to the Goshawk imo. Needless to say I'm impressed
with them ie.. Goshawk Knives and a picture
of my Female North American Gos on my web site.

I dunno. I came up with it in high school. I liked it. It bugged my friends. I liked it more. I haven't though about it since high school. I like it now. It's better than all of my old angsty BBS tags. Shaded sight. Mephisto. Etc. (any drac's daughter alums out there?)

Krumbs because when I was in high school I had a goatee-in-traning and I always had food and crumbs in it. With a "K" to be different. I do love knives... and food, just another excuse to play with them.

I chose minr because I'm a distance runner and my team and i do most of our training on the road.

Just because I talk to myself doesn't mean I'm crazy. What's wrong with getting a second opinion?

Because its a cool name and I like the design of the Microtech "Kestrel" although I have not bought one yet.

I'm tuff - or at least that's what people tell me and call me, thou a couple people refer to me as A$$hole as well. Can suck when certain friends refer to me as that and yell my name across the mall....
