What's the strangest item you have in your survival kit/pack?

I found a VERY small bottle of Tabasco Sauce on a trail once (unopened) so I put it in my pack and there it stays. It is a tiny glass vial that is perhaps 0.25 fluid ounces with the signature red cap.

I think this qualifies as both the oddest thing AND the one thing that I am not sure why it is in my pack.

ace bandage

great for

large wounds
sprain ankles
muscle injuries
scarf
hat
ear muffs
face mask
cordage
injury prevention

and other medical uses that can help you get out of the woods

I have a lot of those. They come packaged in MREs. I think MREs taste good, but everyone else dilutes the food with the Tabasco.

Here's mine. I would guess there's a few "strange" items in there. :D

1 .45 automatic.
2 boxes of ammunition.
4 days' concentrated emergency rations.
1 drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills.
1 miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible.
100 dollars in rubles.
100 dollars in gold.
9 packs of chewing gum.
1 issue of prophylactics.
3 lipsticks.
3 pairs of nylon stockings. --2

Thanks for tieing up that loose end...Now it makes a lot more sense as to why/how it came to be in the middle of the woods!

I always keep a bottle of eyedrops in mine. Not sure if thats weird but comes in real handy if you quickly need to flush something out and you dont wanna pour yer canteen or water bottle all over yourself

Those are genuinely slightly odd items. At least if you live in the US...

I forgot about that, I carry a bottle of Systane for dry eye syndrome.

I've gotten strange looks for some of the extra FA gear I carry in my pack (Israeli bandage, Celox, SAM splint & wrap) because of the space it takes up. The self adhesive wrap came in handy a few weeks back when I gave myself a mild knee sprain busting brush through knee deep snow chasing grouse.

BUMPing this thread up with a very useful yet somehow slightly strange addition. A super thin, credit card sized lockpick set. Weighs almost nothing, takes up almost no space, and you never know when it will come in handy in the wilderness or for urban survival. Dont forget to learn how to pick locks first though!

+1 on the Starbucks Via. I also like Katies pre measured shot idea (snake venom of choice). I have a couple of tampons and sanitary napkins. If you dont have a lady with you, they are still great for absorbing blood as a wrapped dressing over a wound. The also make for good tender if the need arises.
Cheers

I have a Hexbug Nano in my pack.

Why I don't know, I bought a few for my kids for as stocking stuffers and decided I wanted one also.......
