Sorry i didn't read every post.
Looks like your doing well on your own.....and i like to see both sides of the discussion.....we do our best to learn and improve.

i DID want to make a quick response to this though:

Actually, i got on Darrel because he had said that my dead Pal was a liar and a thief. Please read more clearly when you quote me…..

It was not a lynch mob , it was a bunch of friends standing up for a friend who is no longer around to defend himself.Perhaps you might want to read the ENTIRE thread pertaining to that subject.

let's be honest it does seem a bit like let's see how many times we can sell basicly the same knife with little tweaks. how about some completely new designs to shake things up?

how many of Mick's other designs do you currently own ?

realize that knife manufacturing is a business and there are those that are devoted, but this level of excitement over new editions is pretty extreme and let's be honest it does seem a bit like let's see how many times we can sell basicly the same knife with little tweaks. how about some completely new designs to shake things up?

Because the knives rock already???? Dude, Spyderco and like everyone keeps re-doing their knives... What about that? They tweak this or that. Changing the lock a little, blade steel, etc. They keep selling the same knives over and over.

The knives rock already... They are AWESOME knives. That is why people get excited when a new Gen comes out. If I could only have 1 knife - it be a Strider. I LOVE Strider's, I personally consider them the best. That and Mr. Strider, Mr. Dwyer (and Josh) are some of the best people I have ever met in my life. Period.

Have you seen the new Digital camo blade finish?? The brand new "Night Dessert Camo" blade finish? They do have new knives... PT folder, SnG fixed blade, etc... They bring out new knives all the time. They are working on this awesome rescue blade with this powerful glow-in-the-dark material in the G10 handle.

They had a ton of awesome stuff in Vegas.

Again, do not blame the makers for how the fans act.
Do you have a problem with Harley Davidson because their fans wear clothes with their name on it or get tattooed with the company logo?
I aint no Strider groupie, and for sure I'm no knife fighter, but they make a quality product at a decent price point, and they are some of the few people around who are actually honest about their manufacturing process.
Are Mick and Duane my friends? Hell yes, and they can tell you that there's a bunch of us who keep them grounded and from getting swelled heads.

Since the other thread keeps getting brought up, the reason I stopped it was because of the name calling. That one became more about people's emotions for their friend, the late Rob Simonich than it was about the original issues.

If you dont like them, dont think they're worth it, think they're over-hyped, over priced, or just no good, dont buy them.

But you obviously have another agenda here.

mick, glad to see that you caught this thread. my reference to the infamous thread was not meant to be a quote but more a summation of the thread and more specifically the beast that it grew in to. i think i was correct though in that the thread did start off with you showing a picture of darrel ralph's work and saying that he was ripping you off and starting off way hostile. this was definitely before he had a chance to prove himself a liar. BUT that is besides the point. i dont know either of you and i dont know the blood that you share. which kind of hits on my point, an issue that should have been between two people rolled into a lynch mob that had everyone singing your praises and cursing darrel just because it's cool. this is the phenomenon that i am referring to.

I dont have any Striders, dont care for them (not my style). I have only handled a few, dont see what all the fuss is about, but then again maybe if I had need of one I might see it differently. I also personally dont understand some (notice the word some) of the Strider owners who almost worship the ground that the Strider people walk on, but to each their own.

Still, I dont see a problem with people who want to own every Strider they get their hands on. Its their money, and they are free to spend it any way they like. Thats the nice thing about knives, if a certain one makes you happy then more power to you. I like to collect Viotorinox SAKs. Many people would say big-whoopie, they are almost all red and boring. I even have a few models that are the same with only the handle color being different. But they make me happy, so why should anybody else care?

Those who snap up Striders (or any other brand) as fast as they can do not have to justify the reasons to anybody else, and if they do it for no other reason than it makes them happy, thats cool in my book.

Maybe it's the influence of too much "powerful-glow-in-the-dark" material

Stuff can glow in the dark for 24 hours.

doorkicker... check out digi camo, it rocks dude. Heavy duty finish.

Sak-collector is right , collect what you want to , don't diss others for what they choose to collect ( or in my case use ).

24 hours? That'll be really neat...... for the people here who live above the arctic circle and at McMurdo. For some reason I dont think Strider is marketing to musk oxen herders, though, wrong price point.

If its important to you that your knife has a paint job that "rocks" I am sure they'll be glad to take your money. That doesnt make everybody else wrong.

"Nuff said. It was pointless there, its pointless here.

It's better to have it glow for 24 hours and not need it than to have it glow for 15 minutes and then go out when ya need it most. chance favors the prepared mind.

It isn't just a "paint job". It has a functional purpose.

To illuminate yourself for the enemy?
Or so you can find it when you put it down?
Dude, I'm so confused :D
Come to think of it I've never understood the whole camo knife blade thing anyway. I mean it's in the sheath, right?
And iffin the SHTF and you don't have your radio, rifle or pistol and are close enough to the BGs for a knife...well...wouldn't he be close enough to see you?
Do the camo blades come with glow in the dark handles?
;)

Seriously, fun with the fanatics aside,
Rock on Strider Guys, you take care of the troops and that's what matters most.

sendec,
i was just wondering what knives you carry? i bet somebody here would be willing to take their "painted" knife and put it up against yours and see which will break first. if you dont like them, dont buy them. their is no way you can say all strider knives are just knives with paintjobs. they use the best materials available, and produce the knife accordingly. if you dont like this fine, but dont sit back and bash them for no reason.

The knife with the glow-in-the-dark in the handle, is being made for rescue applications. Not for directly for armed forces.
