What's your beater knife?

Several beaters (Ka-Bar, Mora, Bravo-1, BlackJack 125, BK-7, RAT-1, Buck 110, ZT770, Endura and Delica, and several traditionals). However, for every beater I have, I also have at least one of that same model that is brand new in box in the safe. It makes me feel better about beating the beater knowing that I have a pristine backup on standby. But that's just me.

Awesome work

Of course your beater knife would happen to be a PM 2...I wouldn't have expected anything else of you, Ron. ;)

Your feelings regarding the S90V steel, please

^^^
+1

Spyderco Military- one of my all time favorite knives! Did you put together this configuration (M390/Camo)?

It's great stuff man! I thought M390 was the best in a PM2 till I started using the S90v

Sure did Kelama. I had to have tip up but couldn't bear to drill into that beautiful CF. Stock handles are on their way to a new owner.

I'm very glad Clanton prefers the PM2, I wouldn't have been able to afford an m390 military without trading for his user. Thanks again for that brother!

Anytime man I'm glad you are getting to use it.

My two beater knives that I love

BRK Avispa Folder designed by ESEE, $28.95 on Knifeworks.com

AND CRKT M21 Carson Folder, Black G10 Handle, Plain Edge $39.95 on Knifeworks.com The M21 is larger than the M16 but the same knife. Thick blade, the knife feels solid.

Both knives are great. The CRKT is my favorite because it has the ability to lock the liner in place so I'm not as worried about it failing on my hand while I'm abusing the knife (since most the time I'm using the knife incorrectly and not in its intended use, i.e. beater)

All of them. Why else would I spend hard earned money on high performance gear? I don't do stupid stuff but I'm going to put them through their paces and nothing is spared because it's too pretty.

This.
I try not to abuse any of my knives, but I usually carry more than one, so I always have one heavy duty folder on me for more heavy duty tasks.

ZT 0801. It's what I use around the house and yard. Easy to sharpen and handles everything I throw at it. Keeps my office knives pretty :)

I'm surprised. I love my Bionic. I do use it a lot, and it has been a great knife. I know the edges on the jimping and flipper are sharp for some, and they have been removed or softened with the 2.0 iteration. For my calloused diabetic fingers, the jimping and flipper pose no issues. The pocket clip sucks. That one screw is always coming loose, even with loctite.

I have noticed that the bearings feel like they have some grit in them now, but I have used the knife hard and with messy and gritty stuff. Will probably clean it sometime this week. Needs to be sharpened as well.

The bearings were a bad idea. Would have been a better knife with washers. Mine were really rough. I used a dremel and a small polishing wheel with mag polish on the recess where the bearings fit into the blade tang. Like a mirror now and really flips smoothly. Huge difference.

I have various degrees of beaters:

I bought these CRKT knives to experiment with. The tanto I wanted to try stabbing through sheet metal and so forth but haven't gotten around to it yet. The spear point I carry on fishing trips in case it gets lost or I have to do something really crappy with it. (On one trip I opened up a box and set my knife down, when I turned to get it I couldn't find it. My uncle had picked it up and was scraping the big cast iron cooking pot with it.)

I have a pair of different Manix 2's that I use for beater or work knives around the house. The older 154 version lives in the garage and I use it to break down boxes and so forth. The M4 version is what I carry on weekends when I'm working around the house.

Beater knife is whatever I happen to have with me, whether it be my $12 Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter or my more-than-$12 ZT 0454... My CB Leek has probably seen the most cumulative pocket time over the last few years. I keep the Kabar and a Leatherman in my work bag, and those two also double as loaners if someone asks to borrow a knife.
