What's your Cold Steel EDC today?

Thanks, for the quick response MR. The slabs look very ergonomic. Does it EDC in the pocket well? I'm sure that it does, just asking an actual user. Thanks again, brother.

Knowing how much you appreciate Cold Steel like I do, you will thoroughly enjoy the Bush Ranger.

It's a bit thick, but that's the trade off for the comfort. The brown g10 is a nice change of pace, and the clip is larger than the usual CS curved clip.

The belly is a thing of beauty as well on the blade.

PS...I enjoy your CS pics, and appreciate how you keep the thread near the top!

Center, I know that you and Molokai Raider own this model. What are you feelings about it? The Ranger is fast-becoming my next purchase-option.
It is very comfortable in hand. In fact, it’s in my pocket right now.

Mine was not brand new from a dealer when I got it, but it looked pretty much unused. It was not very smooth or well centered when I got it. I replaced the OEM phosphor bronze/teflon washers with new phosphor bronze (no teflon) and tuned it up, and now it’s very smooth and well centered. I love the clip blade shape. I noticed some minor blade rap near the belly, where the edge was apparently hitting the bend in the lock spring, but, after a sharpening it has not returned. There is no ricasso that you can drop on your finger when closing one handed like other models. That’s neither good nor bad, just an observation.

My only gripes, and they’re very small, is that I wish it had thumb studs instead of the opening plate. I’ve never been a huge fan, but if you are, that won’t be a problem. Second, I personally don’t like the super prominent clip cutout on the scales, although the clip itself is very good. It doesn’t affect use or anything, it’s just really disruptive to the smooth look.

Overall, it’s a great model and I’m shocked it’s not more popular.

So, you don't know me or my preferences, but I have a Bush Ranger as well. It IS very comfortable in the hand. I think I bought mine just after, or just as, Cold Steel was selling out, so to speak. Mine had some idiosyncracies.
The grind lines were a little off on the blade. It doesn't seem to affect the cutting, or the indexing of the cut, but it is there, and rather noticeable while using. Not a problem, just a nit, and something that nags at my senses.

I didn't like that when closing, it dropped blade edge onto my finger. So, I reshaped the grip/scales in a fashion that I saw somewhere on here. To do that, I needed to remove the blade. Plus, the blade had a lot of wobble anyway. Unfortunately, the pivot was loctited, and there isn't a flat side to the pivot like there is on Benchmades, Spydercos. At least not on mine. So, I couldn't remove the blade. In order to remedy that, I had to take a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel and cut a slot on the female side of the blade pivot, so I could get a screwdriver in there. THAT got everything fixed, and now it is a good knife.

I THINK most all of these problems could have been just things going on during transition. I dunno. The biggest issue was the blade wobble, and the loctited pivot. If it weren't for those, I wouldn't really have a single bad thing to say about the knife.
