What's your dream 5-7" wilderness blade?

I'm thinking of trading some blades around to get a better 5-7" bladed knife. For those of you who regularly use this knife size, what's your ideal knife? And what would you suggest to others?

I've got a BK7, which I love, but its a tad to big, and a little too tactical. I'm leaning towards a 6" blade, as some of my 4.5 and 5" blades are just a tad short.

Don't flame my knife size choice!

Bark river snowy river would suit you, I bet.

Just saw your previous choice, maybe a bravo1 or a canadian special.

JK Scout w/ a 7 inch blade.

I really like my KaBar for its size. It handles like a small blade because it isn't very tall but it has the reach for some good chopping and batoning. I think a 3/16" 6-7" Scout is my next knife.

i use a 5.5inch knife as my main blade for bushcraft and outdoors. i picked that length because the traditional size for bushcraft is 4 inches, but i have really long arms and big hands, so that is just works for me. mine is a koyote bushcrafter lueku-esqu. his has a couple in that range up on his site if you want to check them out.

Put it on your christmas list.

I have mine, the Fallkniven S1. But a Randall model 25 trapper would be a real treat.

Busse Sarsquatch. But after just recieving my Laconico HWK+, his Explorer or something like it may replace that as well.

the rat was a fine knife... THe one thing I like about itwas the choil would allow one to choke up for finer work. but I found the handle a little thick.. and my convexed tramotina was a 10th of the price and out performs it at every task... tram and a mora and I'm golden..

Its a Tie between my Laconico Explorer and JK scout. Dream is reality though, I have em both!!!

I have a HWK in the works from Ray too. Its 4.25in blade.

I've got a RAT7, Ranger RD7 and a Busse Basic7. I dont really take any of them out with me in the bush, it just doesnt make up for a precision small knife or the power of hatchet so it ends up being extra weight...

That being said, I do like the Basic7 an awful lot and of the 3 it's the only one I plan on keeping as I thin out the knife pile.

All 3 had their edges polished up, keeping the factory angles, until they were all hair popping.
The RD7 is the best chopper of the 3, followed by the Basic, then the RAT.
For whittling wood, the asymmetrical edge of the Busse did the best, then the RD, then the RAT.
The RD7 has good flat grind that comes down to a pretty narrow shoulder behind the bevel, thinner than the RAT even though it's thicker stock. The BASIC7 had a width at the bevel about the same as the RD7, but a narrower blade so the flat grind is steeper.

Liked the shape and look of the RAT7 the best, but rubber handle of the Basic is nice, I'm rather fond of hidden tangs so thats what makes it a keeper for me.

I like a bigger knife. I tend to use folders for finer work. I like the Bark River Bravo-2.

My modified Sarsquatch Bowie is another one I like.
