What's your EDC weight limit?

No real weight limit on the high end, but I don't go under 5 ounces on my large edc folder. I want to solid feel of a heavier folder, and have for the past 40+ years. I guess the average weight of my current rotation would be around 7.5 to 8.0 ounces, with some heavier, Bob Dozier Workhorse at 9.5 ounces, and Ontario Hossom Retribution 1 at 10+ ounces, and some lighter, Spyderco Vallotton at 6.2 ounces. My main carry for the past couple of months has been the Benchmade Adamas at 7.7 ounces, and it carries very comfortably in my right front pocket.

It's just the way I "swing"!:thumbup::)

My maximum weight for a knife is 6oz, that is for EDC. Keep in mind that I don't only carry one knife, I usually carry two or three (one being a SAK or multi-tool).

Another thing that's important to me is the thickness of the knife, I hate bulgy knives for EDC purposes.

A good example for this is my Benchmade Adamas. Its about the same size as my ZT 560 but damn that thing is a thick SOB, which is why I EDC my 560 over it.

Weight means far less to me than thickness and carry comfort. I have some knives at 5oz or over but they carry very similar to much lighter knives. Other knives weigh little and feel like a brick. What I'm wearing and what I'm doing determines what knife I decide to carry much more than the knife's weight itself. That said, I do prefer a slim EDC in general (meaning everything I carry; not just knives), so I tend to choose items depending on thickness more than anything else. Super-chunky knives usually are out, regardless of weight, unless it's for work.

Im with most of you guys on this one. Weight isnt such a big deal. The thickness of the handle is what matters to me.

I've never thought about a knifes weight, or cell phone weight, or the weight of my keychain or flashlight. Ounces are trivial. Size is different, like when the keychain bunches up into something that feels like a miniature porcupine.

I try to limit my main blade to 5 ounces because in same pocket I carry SAK and flashlight.

I carry a FS 1911 on the strong side, so I don't pay much attention to knife weight. I do like to keep my pockets fairly uncluttered, though, so I tend to carry a Leek in the front and Becker BK14 in the back pocket.

+1 I carry a commander around IWB with a leek in my front pocket never really notice the knife, I've got a Subrosa on the way gonna try it in the back pocket if I don't like it there I'll porbably just replace the leek with it.

The weight of a knife is insignificant. Hell, even if it weighed as much as your loaded gun, it's still not too heavy to carry. What does a man weigh? 100 lbs, or three times that. The difference between 3 ozs and 33 ozs is negligible. If you're that worried, lose one pound, then you will be strong enough to carry one additional pound of knives. Repeat as necessary so you can carry a spare battery for your flashlight.

I can carry a medium (3.1 to 3.6 inch blade) folder not more than 6.2 ounces (my Fallkniven PXL weighs this much) for situations that demand a medium folder.

But for EDC, I am more comfortable with a narrow and thin 3-inch folder not exceeding 3.5 ounces.

I use the "Leatherman Juice S2" rule. I really don't want to carry something heavier than about 4.5 oz, unless it gives me some cool tools and a bottle opener.

I can handle 4+ oz in jeans, but in almost anything else, the lighter, the better for me.

Unless you're wearing dress pants I don't understand anyone complaining about weight. We're talking ounces for god sake, '4 oz. max', '5 oz. max', come on is one more really going to make a difference, please.

I EDC an 0200 which comes in at around 8, never thought 'god this knife is too damn heavy to carry', 'wish it was an oz. or 2 lighter'. But hey, that's just my $.02.

Feel sorry for those that impose limits on themselves, missing out on some sweet blades...

3 oz. I'm almost 6'8" and 320ish lbs. Anything more then that and I drift to one side while I walk - knocking people, Yugos, trees, etc over.

Honestly, no limit.

Out of my collection my ZT301 is my heaviest folder, 2nd is an SmF, and Military the largest. I can carry any of them comfortably in work pants - carpenter jeans or Dickies.
Think about your latest droid or iPhone though - 4.5-5oz+. 4-5" x 2.5-3" x .5 or so. I notice my droid razr more than anything else in my pocket and my wallet is bulkier than that. Whenever I read or watch a video about 4oz I think pussyboy TNP'ers. The only time I consider weight is when I'm wearing board shorts or jogging pants because the pockets are so loose heavier knives tend to flop all over the place.

no limit here either...then again, usually sporting a sub 3" up to under 4" blade or multiples there of.

Is sarcasm? Can't tell.

I like lighter carry for pocket objects...at work. My weekday EDC us a peanut, and it does what I need. Seldom need anything larger, and then it means a quick trip to my car for a different folder.

Weekends, it depends. My current fave is my large Case yellow trapper.
