Whats your favorite cheap edc

Opinel. Inexpensive, light weight, good ergonomics and razor sharp.

I picked one up in a sporting goods chain store a few weeks ago, while shopping for a new up\downer hat. I agree with the above statement. I am currently enamoured with this knife, until I gaze upon the next shiny utilitarian cutting tool.

This is a tough one, there are actually quite a few good ones under $40. I am not even going to include any SAK's which I carry almost every day and are without a doubt the best value winner.

#1 Case Sodbuster Jr.

#2 Ontario Utilitac II

#3 Kershaw Injection

#4 Aitor Castor

Okay, I may have included some SAK Cadets in the above pics. :D

Opinel number 8. Cuts great, is way tougher than most people think.

Swiss Army Knife (Victorinox Spartan) $25
Schrade SP3 Lockback (American made) was $12 with whetstone included
Buck Bucklite II (American made) was $25 or so

many decent folders from Case, Buck in that price range
many decent SAKs for less than $40

eschwebach: thanks for the pic of the aitor; you just cost me $22.50:p. By the way, my selections for the OP are Spyderco tenacious, Rat 1, and Svord mini peasant.

Always here to help! Mine is the small version. It's a very good slicer with the leaf shaped FFG carbon steel blade. Takes a very keen edge.

Victorinox SAK. Shocking, I know...:rolleyes:;)

For a modern locking one-hander, I think the Ontario RAT models are hard to beat...

Least expensive knife I own is probably a SOG Trident Tanto or a Cold Steel Recon 1. I did win an ESEE Zancudo in a GAW from Quiet, and it will be here this afternoon. We shall see how I like it.

Mine needed some tweaking out of the box. The detent was way too strong. But once I bent the lock back a hair it was amazing.

Hands down for me is the Tenacious. Perfect G-10 handles, fits the hand good. Super smooth fast deployment, Easy to get and keep razor sharp, Full Flat ground blade, Good durable pocket clip that doesn't tear up your pants, Thick solid lockup. This knife is a slicer.

I love my ESEE Zancudo. I carry it every day and its never failed me. Its a $25 - $30 knife.

Kershaw has several but I also think the Kabar Dozier is a very good buy for the money. Kevin

Any Case in CV, Victorinox or Wenger SAK, Opinel (#8 or #9 in carbon steel), Douk Douk (I've only tried the carbon steel ones). I own a few budget "modern" folders, but I don't carry them that often.
