Whats Your Favorite Concealed Carry Handgun ?

It`s starting to turn into a high crime area around me! This happened about 4 miles from me, and two weeks ago we had a knife slashing attack 4 miles away in New Lenox.

Mokena Police apprehended a man who assaulted two people at the stop light on the westbound I-80 off ramp onto La Grange Road Sunday afternoon, around 2 p.m. The man reportedly walked up to a vehicle, asked for spare change, then attempted a robbery with a knife. He was seen running under the La Grange Road bridge near the Metra tracks. Police found and arrested him in that vicinity after a search.

Man, that's scary!
No way I would even roll my window down for some guy walking up to my car at a red light.

Me either! He was carrying a "homeless" sign, and the people felt sorry for him. You never know if it`s true or a scam.

Anyone have any first hand experience with the S&W Shield in 9mm?

I have a Shield in 9, and really like it. Mine actually has a much better trigger than my other full size M&P's (including a VTAC). Out of a couple dozen handguns, it's now the first subcompact I grab when I want a 9mm. My primary carry is the S&W PC1911-45. Secondary is the Springfield MicroCompact 1911-45. And third is the Shield, which is very similar in size to the Springer.

Thanks for the info on the Shield. My wife wants to try one out to see if she can work the slide, and see if she can shoot it.

I live here in Vegas so I may be cynical but it's always a scam. I can count the number of times I have given money to people other than official charities on one hand. I ask them to show me they're wallet, if they need the money that bad and don't have anything to hide they will. If they don't or won't it's because they are scamming, I learned that little trick from my Dad. Don't get me wrong I'm no Scrooge this Christmas I took my son to the store and explained to him that there were little boys and girls who's parents couldn't afford Christmas and told him to pick out some toys for him to donate to the Firefighters at the front of the store. He made me a very proud Papa and it felt good to finally be in a place financially to do that.

After a couple more successful range trips (and another few hundred rounds) I'll start carrying this Browning 1911 .380. So far, I really like this one. Carries nicely at just past the three o'clock position.

real nice Jeff.

and, i'm glad this one popped up in my feed. it occurs to me i can ask this bunch a question. so, i got to handle a Kimber Micro Carry DC. now, my problem with a lot of compact or sub-compact guns is that i do not like that my pinky can't fit on the handle. it just feels weird. but the Micro Carry DC fit my hand perfectly. this one immediately moved to the top of the list.

but out of curiosity, anyone have any experience with the DC? ... or any of the MicroCarry line.

I think DC stands for Defensive Carry. Is that the one with the Crimson Trace laser?

I have a stainless Micro and love it! As you can see in the pic my pinky hangs off the bottom as well.
After putting a few hundred rounds through it I have gotten used to gripping with only the two fingers.
My only complaint thus far, is that I wish the grips were a bit wider. The gun is a little too thin for my likes, but the gun is meant to be carried discreetly so I figure that's why the grips are so thin.

They make a 7 round magazine that has a pinky finger addition to bottom it. Ive thought about ordering one just to see how I like it.

This little guy is actually more fun to shoot than my Beretta 92 because its so small and light weight.

Here it is in one of RGrizzles IWB holsters.

yes, Defensive Carry. and hmmm...i am going to have to go to a shop and check out the other lines of the Micro's. cuz, that is why i liked the DC...because i could get all fingers on the grip. i don't know if the DC model has different specs then, or maybe it had that 7rd mag you spoke of.

thanks for the info.

I have a mag for my small Sig (very similar in size to your Kimber, I believe) that has that same "pinky" addition, plus another round over the stock "flush" mag.
I'd bet a nickel you'd be pleased if you bought it.

I had the extended magazine for the Sig P290 RS I used to own, gave it a full grip.

I have been trying to get used to the shortened grip on my M&P .40C. I go back and forth between crowding my pinky somewhat on the grip and kind of wrapping it underneath. I can also use full sized mags in it which would give me a hold similar to the full sized version but that would kind of defeat the advantage of the reduced size package. I think I just need to spend more time with it.

I find that I can shoot my Kahr PM9 well with a two finger grip, BUT follow-ups are much faster with the "extended" 7 round mag that gets my pinky into action.

As an aside, I successfully completed the KY CCDW Instructor Course last weekend.

Maybe not for most folks, but mine is the Sig Sauer P226 Tac Ops. Not a small piece but one that will work 100% of the time and with enough juice of what might be required.....
