what's your favorite swiss army knife?

I have carried the Adventurer for almost 20 years. It has all the same tools as the Tinker (although it is missing the small pen knife blade), has a locking 3.25-inch knife blade, is only two spring channels thick, and is rather light weight (under 3 ounces) although it is longer than the traditional SAK's. I would avoid the official Boy Scouts of America version since it has serrations.

I have to say it's the Farmer. Has all the tools I need and none that I don't find useful...... and yes, I do use the bottle opener:)

There are three I am really liking and would recommend. But there is no such thing as a bad Vic SAK.

The Huntsman. this one is 20 years old.

The Super Tinker. Tinker plus scissers.

And the Farmer.

There are so many more that are good ones. I also have an Explorer and Cadet that I like as well. And....

cool pic's everybody,
i'm going to have to take a closer look at the farmer

anybody got a spine picture of a fieldmaster and a hiker (or any thinner one to compare it to) i really like the thought of scissors and a saw, but i don't want one overly thick, i'm going to pocket carry it.

I've had a Swisschamp since some time during middle school. The only model I'd consider pocketing over it is the Scientist, if I could find one.

Tinker or spartan for me. I also like the soldier and the recruit. I like em thin and simple.

At work and around town, the Compact. Perfect blend of size and maximum number of useful tools to me and a minimum of ones I don't need. In the outdoors, though, any of the alox models with a saw.

I own three - Swiss Champ, Camper, and Ranger. Of the three, I find the best compromise of size and versatility is the Ranger. I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned.

the ranger is mighty nice and the file would come in handy, how thick is it, does it carry pretty easy in the pocket?

Carried a Huntsman in the Army till I laid it down & we had to move out. Taught me that Red is more visible in low light than Black. Had all the tools I ever needed out in the field as a Medic.

Nowadays I mostly carry my Red Alox Farmer. Occasionally I replace it with a Red/Black Alox Lumberjack I got from Swiss Bianco. Still prefer the Farmer over it though.

Always liked my German issue OHT (GAK) too. Just got a Compact for office carry that's pretty nice.

SAK hiker. Perfect balance between useful tools and weight. Wish it had a pair of scissors though...
