Here's a 3OT you might like that I just grabbed. "Ty Murray Limited Edition". It's the first one of these I've seen but they made over a thousand of them because mine is #1003.

Here's some more detailed scans of knife and paperwork that came with it:

just got it in and the handle is a little loose. how does one tighten it up? i was thinking about a simple shim between the handle and the guard.

i love the Schrade fixed blades. this one just won today and can't wait to get it to add to my collection. Schrade-Walden 171UH with the bird's head handle. with the serial number of 00493 does that put it in its first year of production or second?

Did you buy that one, Chuck? It is a really nice knife. I have seen them go higher and lower. I don't think very many people know what they are. The market is pretty fickle anyway. The 124UH commands absurd prices; people are just gaga for what are just plain old plastic handles. I think $100 for that 34 would not be an unreasonable price. I saw an absolutely magnificent watch on antique roadshow one night appraise for a couple grand, and some ratty old papers of one kind or another appraise for 100 times that much. The excellence factor was exactly 100% upside down.

Yes, I snagged that one. I saw two recently range from $70-$90, and quite a while ago I saw two go for $200+. I guess even at the low end of the spectrum I still did well.

Chuck

How can you go wrong at that price..25th Anniversary of 'The Old Timer' 1959-1984...Schrade rightfully re-created a very special knife using quality materials and box....to honor their flagship Old Timer line first introduced in 1959....well done Aggie. That Anniversary knife will be one of the movers price wise as more Schrade appreciators come on board in the years to come....."you know who" has cobbled together the 50th Anniversary of the Old Timer 1959 to 2009...somehow it loses something in the translation as something to get excited about or collect IMO... You got a great deal Chuck. One of them was me and I was happy to pay the $89.00 I got mine for:

Did yours come with all the bling Chuck? Mine is still in the mail and I should get it the end of next week.

Mine is in the mail as well. Not sure if all of the bling is with it and while the bling is nice, I tend to be more concerned with the knife. :D For me the bling is typically not a deal breaker, but more icing on the cake.

Well, got a package in the mail. Not all of the bling was there, just the wood box with blue felted insert and of course the knife. Interesting tid-bit of info, the original price tag was still on the inner lid of the box. $74.95 back in the day. Guess I got it at a discount!

I think you got a great price!

I'm more about the knife than the bling too cause I display my knives but the boxes etc just get stored away. I only asked because the bling does inflate the price most of the time and I was trying to gauge my $89.00 purchase with bling intact. I'm sure we can both likely sell at a small profit if the sky falls.

I'm with ya Dave. I think either price is great for the knife in question. I believe under the right conditions "small profit" would be an understatement.

I hate having to post links to ebay listings, but my head is killing me and I don't feel like pulling out the camera. Be that as it may I really want to get some opinions on this knife. It looks to be a 1984 Heritage stockman, the etch is on the blade though faded, stamp is right, shield is right, but a small clip instead of a spey? I looked it over and I want to say that I think the clip may be genuine. Another oddity is that the bolsters are rounded, threaded and slightly pinched on the ends. What do you guys think?

Oh wow. It is a kick ass knife, and unique too. It is definetely an odd combination, and a great price. No way is it standard issue. The short clip and sheepsfoot are a nice combo. Love the round bolsters. I'd be getting out trade bait if we were face to face on that one.:thumbup::thumbup:

G'day Chuck, I hope it is a variation rather than the spey ground to clip. I just got out one of my Heritage stockman's and by putting a ruler angled across the spey blade top it looks identical to the clip and the distance to the nail nick is spot on to the one in the photo...wont know I guess until you receive it....but hey..either way its a beautiful bone handle Heritage stockman with ornate bolsters for $22...how can you go wrong....by the way the Stockman I pulled out <and I know I have others in boxes> is identical with 8801 reverse of Master Clip, however my Heritage Shield is 1983...could there be a variation with 1984?...interesting question ..interesting knife...you did well. Larry, I will have to try and get pictures close-up of the small clip and let everyone form their opinions. I have the knife in hand, but felt terrible last night or I would have had pictures up for everyone to see. I looked through the flyers on Larry V's site and didn't see anything like it for sure. Could be a variation or maybe an EOD?

To me, I don't think it is a regrind for a couple of reasons. 1) It appears that the original finish on the blade is in-tact. Whenever I have had to regrind a blade it always seems to "feather" a little where I was grinding. 2) The blade has swedges that in my mind are too symetrical to have been done as part of a regrind, but I know there are some pretty skillful folks out there so I could be wrong.

I will do my best to get some pics of that small clip up sometime over the weekend. We're having my little girl's 3rd b-day party tomorrow so it may not be until Sunday before I get something up. Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate it.

Chuck

One of the red bone series which was issued along with with a 34OT and 8OT. I thought it was sold with a non original box, likely busted out of a three knife set in one box. When it showed up though, the box has a 108RB sticker on one end.

Probably an original box. Wish I had the other two in woodgrain boxes as well. Looks like the bolsters and blades have been cleaned. The brass pins show patina. 0673 is the serial number on the bolster.

Chuck, the only possibility that cones to mind is it may be a small clip from the 804 version of the Heritage Series. Need to see a blade though to compare nail nic location and size, as I don't have one of those here. Otherwise Larry may be right with the re-profile theory. Either way it's a great knife, that small clip would (to me) be far more useful than a spey.

Hal, great knife! I've got one in the same box, with the same sticker. Seems to be original.
