what years were the UH55 made? and also the 65OTG and 53OTG? i've looked and can't find them. i have the 5UH and like it also. plus was lucky enough to get a H. Williams 5OT which as you can imagine very very pretty.

I have never seen a 53OTG in a box - My six 65OTG all came in boxes.
The UH55 is the one I have never been able to find...New or used.

55UH was offered in 2002 and only through Wal Mart according to what I have read. It was a four inch closed liner-lock unlike the 5UH and 50UH which are similar in appearance but are lock-backs. The 55UH also had a lanyard hole whereas the other two models I mentioned do not.

You will find some info here: http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/schrade_knives/price_list/uncle_henry.php Make sure to read the footnote.

Here's a link to a recent auction:

Here's a photo link: http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/new-uh/highres/pages/55UH.htm

I haven't looked into the other models (65OTG and 53OTG) so I will leave info on them to someone else. Hope this helps. Cheers, D.

Don't know why it's a "special addition".

Had never seen this before and really like 50ts...

Have a great night. Regards.

Chuck, a Schrade Walden 890 is a 'new' one to to me, but what a superb knife that is and a very good score pricewise. Congratulations, super great knife is no exaggeration !
And Del, 635 or 735 ?

Nice lookin' 5-OT, wveah. What's the handle made of?

Here's a 3OT you might like that I just grabbed. "Ty Murray Limited Edition". It's the first one of these I've seen but they made over a thousand of them because mine is #1003.

My newest addition. Haven't gotten to take my own pics yet, but it came in the mail today and I wanted to show it off.

Great little knife! According to orvet's chart (can't thank him enough for the quick reference) on AAPK the 890 was a:

"3 1/2" Premium Stock Knife; bone stag handle; clip, sheepfoot & spey blades; brass liners; N/S bolsters & shield" made from 1947-1963 and its old number was 8903

Great knives, Aggie! Is that what they mean by Rogers bone, on that cattle knife? I see Sears and Wards contract knives, and some Camillus knives with what appears to be the same kind of bone. Meanwhile, here are some barlows, Schrade style, in micarta, bone, and HW stag. I have started to carry the Herman.

I am reasonably sure this Craftsman is a Schrade. I have been carrying it either in pocket or in car, suitcase, etc. for awhile, and although it is not a pretty knife, it is a darned good one.

I really do not know. So I am going with dyed, smooth elk stag - but I think it's probably smooth delrin. Tried to find one from my collection with similar material [will post "black handled knives" this week-end since I'm not much of a football fan and that makes for lots of free time on Superbowl Sunday!]

This seems to have the same material...

Which I think is the same stuff as your sweet 3-ot? This is smooth and yours [like a couple barlows I have] appears to be textured. In any event, I don't know but until one of the experts here say otherwise I'm going with delrin.

Have a great evening.

Calvin,

I have been told that it is Rodger's Bone, but I myself am not sure. I agree, it looks much like other knives I've seen with "Roger's Bone" scales. I like that Craftsman too. It definitely looks Schrade-ish. You're a brave man carrying that H. Williams. I could never bring myself to carry one of mine, I'd surely find a way to screw it up.

i love the Schrade fixed blades. this one just won today and can't wait to get it to add to my collection. Schrade-Walden 171UH with the bird's head handle. with the serial number of 00493 does that put it in its first year of production or second?

I'm not sure if even our most knowledgeable Schrade historians know for sure, but I don't think there WAS a "second year" for the 171 with the birds head handle. I think they went to what I call the "club" pretty quickly.
