just got these in. the 171 UH someone took the time to sharpen the upper part of the blade. have never seen that in my other 171's. did a good job too. came with the box and just a knife though no sheath. had a sheath to put with it to almost complete the set.
been looking for a good Barlow and got this one. carbon blade so love the patina.

Fresh out of the mailbox! Got this one in today and scrubbed it down with a toothbrush and some dawn and hot water to get the crud off of it. It's resting in a mineral oil soak now to revitalize the bone, but I had to share. Anyone got an idea on how old it is?

Nice cattle knife! I have 2 or 3 that are very similar stylistically and in the bone, and I have been told they dated to the 1941 Sears catalog. I think basically 1930's? I would guess that the beginning of the war marked the end of an era regarding the look and composition of these knives?

Thank you Calvin! The seller listed it as pre WWII and I could tell it was old, I just wasn't sure if it was that old. I believe it is now the oldest knife in my collection by a good 20+ years. Thanks for the info!

I'd like to see a picture after the mineral oil bath. Curious how it affects the color. That is really a cool old cattle knife.

These are all used but they are still just fine more for use which says a lot about the quality of these vintage Schrades.

4 5/16" Stock knife, either a 81043 or 71043 if this is the "long" Spey blade(which i think it is). The catalogue shows a Federal shield but this knife did not get one. Is this of any significance ?

4 1/8" "Budding and Pruning knife" #7303

4 7/16" Large Pruning Knife, #1361 with owner modified blade. It came with this Schrade sheath. It's a nice stout knife, very comfy in hand and bear trap snap on closing (but not a hard pull to open).

not much length lost and such a stout blade:

Nice old Cutcos, Roland. I decided to let you have those top two because I ran out of money last month. hahaha. Here's a little one. Half stops. Thumb cutout for pen blade. Great swedge on clip but hard to see for the stains. Mother of toilet seat handles. Snappy little knife.

Nice grind on the clip blade!!

Thanks on the grind compliment, Charlie, but somebody else did it some 60 odd years ago and more. :). Here's a still life I call Black & White & Red All Over.

Here are a couple SW whittlers, an 804 and an 836. You would not know it for the stains, but they are only lightly used. The backside of the 804 has a prettier piece of bone. The black cell seems to be pretty stable. Yellow cell is infamous.

Here is yellow infamous 835Y.

Chuck, almost missed that one, great example of a fine Imperial!

just got this today. i do love these lockback knives. almost completes my set i think of the OT lockbacks.
now have the 3 OT, 5 OT, 5OTG, 51 OT, 55OTG, 6 OT and 7 OT. now with the addition of the 9 OT it looks like i am one away from completing the set. am i correct in thinking it, the 9 OT, was manufactured in the years, 1995 to 1997?

i have never seen the 53 OTG. how rare is it? what years was it manufactured? in looking at the price lists all i can find is 2002 and 2003.

Hi, I have six 53OTG knives, and they all came in Clam Packs.
I found them very hard to find, as they where only made in 2002-2003.
I have never seen a 53OTG in a box - My six 55OTG all came in boxes.

The UH5 is another nice lock-back I found hard to find, I have six of them.
The UH55 is the one I have never been able to find...New or used.
I have a 55OTG Ducks Unlimited and the 2003 & 2004 wooden-handled
(5OT look-a-like) Ducks Unlimited...
I have been looking for the 2000 to 2004 Schrade items for six years.....
And almost stoped collecting the older knives, wile I tryed to find the later knives... Ken

Hey Hal, where did you get that graphic with the Imperial tang stamps? You have posted a chart similar to it with Schrade stamps in the past as well. I was just curious where you located that information. It is very helpful in trying to date the knives and I have taken the liberty of saving them both on my computer for future reference. Thanks

Chuck
