Chuck - Ever visited the Schrade collectors site? There are catalogs for a lot of years, beginning with the legendary 1928 Roland and Charlie refer to. Great old illustrations...

Yes sir, many times. . . just never looked that far back. Knives from that era are not my typical hunting ground. . . for now

Chuck, you have much to look forward to as a Schrade collector. The old Schrade Cutlery Co. knives are some of the very best USA production knives ever, as are many of the early Schrade-Walden knives. It's a big 'body of knowledge' but most rewarding to explore and discover and then make some good scores on ebay. Pay a bit more and get only knives that have not been used to near death. The very good and better condition knives are a treat to own. They also made a great many knives for other retailers so they are not branded "Schrade" and it takes awhile to be able to recognize these.

Been on vacation in the hills of central Tennessee this past week. Drove right past SMKW without stopping in favor of pawn shops and flea markets. Came across the following. Sorry in advance for the crappy pics.

A couple not discussed very much around here. Tough Chip multi-tool and Schrade vise grips.

Schrade NKCA stag clasp.

And what I consider my best find of the vacation.

Dave, ..$19.99 for a Schrade Walden Divers J.C.Higgins SD41 Frogmen's Defender with 'D' Guard circa 1961-1965 for Sears Roebuck with total production only 850 during that period.....Frogmen's Defender "....made to Government Standards"........<I have 4 you have 1 and that leaves 845 out there in SchradeLand.......your knife would have originally had the twine attachment from handle to yellow or black sheath <they came with either>....seller didn't have sheath as well did he/she?.....or more to the point didnt have a few more going out at $19.99 I would buy a few at that price too......LOL....LOL.....<bet seller wasn't armed with above info when the knife was priced!......
Well done!.......at least with my previous photos of this knife highlighting its existance out there, I serve as an 'example to others'...even if its only as a deterrant to others!'....LOL
Well done...they sure seem to appreciate their knives down in Tennessee...I will have to go there some day when I find a big enough nugget. Hoo Roo........

Dave, nice scores! The Frogman's Defender for 20 bucks is (as Larry said) an extra sweet find. I always bring my ST-1 and ST-2 when I'm camping but I don't have the vice-grip model yet. In fact my EDC of late has been the Tough Chip. Makes a great key-chain.

The Tough Tools are a super good deal these days and can be had at below dealer cost if you are patient and wait for the right auction.

I just saw one of these knives in mint condition end a few days ago, so that prompted me to show a few pictures of the one I had just recently acquired. The only thing I did to this knife upon arrival is to polish it with Flitz. The large pen blade has been very lightly sharpened, but the small one has not, it still has the factory edge on it. It also has some minor pitting on the blades. It is not near the mint condition of that Ins. Co. advertising one was in though but I'm very grateful to own it.

That is a pretty little knife. Thanks for showing it. When I see those I get uncomfortable, because I know if I got one, then I would want a watch to go with it (just one) and then... well, you know what happens.

Here's another one you guys might enjoy lookin at. This knife is still in the condition I received it in. The Stanhope viewer is still quite legible too.

Great find Bill. Not sure I've seen the box and leather knife pouch before. Just what is the Stanhope viewer, by the way?

Hurry up with the tomato picture please.:D

..more to the point Hal has anyone managed to take a photo of Adolphus Busch's head/portrait through that peep-hole viewer?....is it possible..?
Great example with pouch and box..well done...Hoo Roo

Here's another knife I just got about a week or so ago. I was told by a good friend this model was only made for around 4 years.

Hal, here is that Tomato picture I tried to post last night but I didn't have enough room for it. I grew this one last year, I had to break out the ole trusty 167UH just to slice all the way through it. I doubt a 168UH would of done the job, LOL :D. If I remember correctly it was upwards of 3#'s ! ! !

Bill you're making me hungry. That 842 Senator of yours, I have one like it with USA after the NY in the stamp. Yours must be a but older. Collector site lists that particular pattern from 1952-1954, so it must have been a short runner. Sure has tiny tipped bolsters.

I won this Schrade Pro Hunter 2 on Ebay and received it this past Friday. I really like the size of this knife and the ergos are great!

so i bought my girlfriend her first pocket knife, whenever we take walks she likes to pick wild flowers and make bouquets with them, everytime the stem is too thick she asks me to pull out my knife and cut it off for her, so i decided to take measures into my own hands and got her this schrade florist knife, and let me say, for a 10 dollar knife this thing is crazy sharp, cuts flowers and plants like a dream and i am really jealous and i wish i had gotten it for myself...

got this in the other day and just have now had time to show it off. what manufacture dates are there for the S-W 175? what is the handle made from? it is separating a little from the bolster.
