Can anyone tell me, what years the 881 had the match strike pull?
Did the match strike pull come before the other pull?
Do all the old 881 knives have bone handles?
I have an 881 just like the one above, however it has a “match strike pull”
Main Blade is stamped;
SCHRADE
WALDEN
N.Y. U.S.A.
881 on the other side.

I have some 880 and 881 still in the original grease and tupe... Ken

I think the Schrade Walden USA 881 and 880 had the match strike pull from the mid 1950's to sometime in the early 1970's. They went back to a straight pull after the Schrade Walden stampings, but I think there are some 881 with Schrade NY USA stamps with the straight pull.

Before they changed to Delrin, I believe the 881 had bone handles, but since the pattern dates back to Schrade Cut Co years (8815 pattern), the word "all" is hard to verify. I would wager a guess if it is in a tube, it is a Delrin handles, if it is original to the tube.

The knife sitting on the two tubes is Delrin for sure. If the 881 or 880 has SCHRADE or SCHRADE WALDEN engraved on the shield, those too are Delrin.

Calvin, that's a good 880. I used to feel compelled to try to clean up blades like that, but now i realize the knife is fine just as it is. For one thing, you can be sure all blades are original and often knives like this are unused, simply have the tarnish of age, same as many of us. And the price is less than one that has been properly stored and therefore not tarnished.
You have a lot of excellent oldies.

Hal, neat picture. Looks like 3 knives but i think it's 2 plus a reflection. Is the top one Delrin ? Schrade had a period where the jigged Delrin was very bone-like. I have a few S-W 834's that are difficult to distinguish between bone and Delrin.

That is KoldGold's picture. I am certain the knife is Delrin. There is a knife sitting on two tubes, one tube is taped.

Two more on the other link, I have some yellow 881s also.
The knife I use ever day is an 881 I found new back in 1973. That was the start of my collection of Schrade knives and tools.
I have always liked the 4" knives and have quite a number of them.

Some of my collection is posted on that AAPN sight... Ken

We have been talking about Schrade Walden bone so I thought I would throw out a few for comparison.

These are all four inchers, 880's, 881's, 861's, etc. You can see one here with Rogers bone. It is a Craftsman, and I think it is an Ulster, but possibly a Schrade. The bottom two are Schrade Cutcos.

All nice, but that Jiggs comic threw me directly into Mr Peabodies wayback machine.
Thanks for the memories, and you suck for making me divulge my age. ;)

Nice Calvin, and the round bolstered Craftsman, and chance it is a Camillus 69 pattern? Looks like it with the grooved bolsters and shield that comes to a point on the ends. Milled liners by chance?

And Roland, I think you are spot on with the Marine Pearl.

Roland, I really wanted your knife to be genuine pearl, but it is a real sweetheart nonetheless. I am a fan of celluloid, believe it or not. That is some super Marine Pearl. I had not seen that before.

just won this an although i am fully cognoscent it is not a knife it will be fun trying to fill it correctly. plus hey i need a nice neat place to put them the pool table is getting full.
