Spiffing looking knife Charlie, very few left in that condition I'm sure!! Pattern No 1157 1/4 I believe.

Thanks for the pattern number, Russell!
I was beginning to think I might not see a spey Barlow in this lifetime.

Charlie, congrats on that fantastic find!!!! I've seen that in the catalog, but never anywhere else, nor did I ever think I would. Glad you found it buddy!

It has been a long, long time since I've had anything to post. Truth be told I haven't purchased a knife in a year. This is one of the last ones that I picked up before hanging it up for a while. It is an open stock 890, produced between 1947 and 1963. It has seen its fair share of use/ abuse and while it is not my fanciest or most minty knife, I really like it and it is in just the right shape to slip into my pocket. Maybe I'll pick up a donor to get a shield from. Good to see and hear from all of you guys and rest assured, I'm still lurking. Here are the pics!

I picked this one up on the cheap, and was really pleased with it.

Good find!! Not only a bargain, that's one of the first, if not the first Scrimshaw knives Schrade produced.

Thanks, unfortunately I missed the sharpfinger version that was being sold by the same seller, so I'm still on the hunt for a one in comparable condition. It's in about the best condition of any old knife I've bought. Serial number 9822, so I figure it's probably 1976. I've only been serious about collecting for a short while, and though I've got a Randall, a couple Liles, a Barbee I carry and a few other nice hand made blades, I keep coming back to Schrade. I don't know exactly why, but I love 'em.

Motey, there's lots of reasons to keep coming back here; nicest most helpful people in all BF'land. And Schrade USA knives are still 'out there' in enough numbers that collecting them is not too expensive.
I too have picked up a few of the first year Scrimshaw 2 blade Folding Hunter, N.I.B. with the pebbled black sheath, for a really low price. I don't know why others weren't going for them, even just for an excellent user. And i think they are very collectible especially these first year ones.

Nice ! Especially the LB7. It looks unused. Is there a serial number on the right side bolster ?

Thanks. It's been sharpened, but still in very good shape. Pic of serial # below. It has already been added to the thread on the subject :)

Nice pocket knife that received immediate pocket time.

I'm excited since I managed to find a mate for my first of this early scrimshaw set. This one has a lower serial number than the first one, and is in really nice condition.
