Hey Fran

Mike had a great time at the show.
He got this killer oversize automatic. (where is the drool smilie?)
I think Charlie is going to post a pic, I didn't get a pic of it.
Mike left to go back today, so you will have to see it when he gets back.

It was great to meet Mike. He is a really nice guy.

It has been a fun show so far and it was great to have Charlie & Mike there to joke around with.

I have said before that Charlie is a class act.
Today he got me back for the 2OT yesterday.
He gave me a bone handled Statue of Liberty.
He called it a trade, but what he got was not worth anywhere near what this knife is worth.
This proves that once again.
It has been a fun show so far and it was great to have Charlie & Mike there to joke around with.

You can see we were completely serious in the picture below. :D
Also here if the knife I got from Charlie.

We have had a great show. Only one day left.
Wish you all could have be here.

Dale
PS- The scratch on the knife blade is really the scratch on the glass of my scanner..........NOT the blade.

My Dad recently passed away and left these behind as he now has no use for them.:) POPs was a Merchant Marine and used that big Schrade hard!! Seaman use their knives more in one year than most guys do in a lifetime, as you can see by the wear. He never did use the Stockman as he hadn't worn out the first one yet lol. So its brand spankin' new. Kinda wish it wasn't, so I would'nt be in such a pickle as to whether use it or not:eek: anyhoots just thought I'd share, aloha, mk

As the 2OT has been fetching some really high prices, I'd thought that was one knife that would escape my collection. :grumpy: Until yesterday! As Fran mentioned, we had been around the tables a few times, then we decided to do one more round. The seller at this particular table seems to deal mostly in Case knives, although I did notice in amongst a row of other folders the 2OT! “Can I have a look at that one,” I said! “Oh, you must know what that is,” mentioned the seller. I thought to myself, (“and yes I'm sure you do too,”) as he handed the knife over. While I was checking the knife out I said, “How much!” All I heard was six something! I thought, “yeah-good luck getting $600 for that!” “How much again, I asked? The seller said, “$60!” That all exhuming feeling came over me , and I fished for my wallet- fumbling to get the money out. Aye, Aye, Aye a 2OT for 60 Bucks, could not believe it, especially in the that condition. No cracks in the bone, full blades, Bolsters in awesome condition; just a few patches of patina here and there. I have not touched the knife except wiping it with a clean cloth. I can tell you that purchase made my day! Needless to say, when I showed the knife to Fran he contained his emotions fairly well. However, I believe I saw the vision of Fran’s hands around my neck, reflecting in his glasses. :D LOL.

I love these stories. Nice one Rusty. The bone color is really rich. How fast did you go for the wallet?

I still think you should have asked if he could do any better.

Whip the cash out too quick, and the poor fellow will go home thinking he under-sold himself.

Always be kind to others. :D

Fran

oh man--what a great story russell--that sounds like the same dream alot of us have had. this time yours came true :thumbup:congrats:thumbup:
a really nice example!!!!!!!!!-----------brady

Russell,

:eek::eek:

6.0stroker's right, that's the deal of a lifetime! Congrats buddy, glad you could finally snag one, and a beauty at a bargain basement price no less!:thumbup:

Fran, the guys got a sixth sense when it comes to sniffing out these beauties, might as well resign yourself to watching and learning. Apparently he also attracts the knives, did you notice how none of those deals were around at a show ten times as big (Virginia)? That's because he wasn't there:D:D

Eric

How fast did you go for the wallet?

I felt like a sharp shooter going for his revolver. I nearly burnt my hands on the leather of the wallet though! :D:D

Despite nearly burning my hands on my wallet, at least I thought it may of looked like a nonchalant movement, :o Although someone close by I'm sure would not of called it nonchalant movement by any means! I did notice the that the ink on the dollar bills seemd to slide on the paper as I handed them over, due to wind velocity :D:D

Thanks for the comments on the purchase guys, I'm still grinning!

That's funny Eric, I can now hear The sound of the twilight zone music is playing in my head.:D

Russell

Congrats Rusty!
Great feeling isn't it? :D:D:D

You did even better on the price than I did!

Dale

Dale, any idea of the age on that Primble knife? Do those dark lines in the cell kind of appear and disappear depending on how you tilt the knife?

Eric

Humbly submitted after viewing 2OT: here is a knife i had not seen until 3 weeks ago; a Schrade Walden 3 7/8" serpentine Jack with a Hawkbill blade, and a bail.

2 days ago i won another one of these and it has 196 on pile side. a bit odd to not see one in over 2 years of ebay Schrade searching and then suddenly a few appear. i have observed this with other knives as well. anybody have an explanation ?

Here is pic of that knife from the 1947 catalog, which I would judge yours to be of that age, with that SCHRADE WALDEN NY stamp, and lack of a pattern number on the back. I'd have a hard time remembering that number! I think 196 is much easier.

Just plain ordinary WOW! on that knife and deal Rusty!! You shouldn't beat Fran up so bad though! Leave some for us!! (JK, JK!)
The Primble that Dale beat me to (talk about beating somebody up!) is very nice in person; I hope I didn't add to the patina. But jeez Dale . . .the show hadn't even started!!
A great show it was . . .kinda sad it's over!!

I didn't buy as many knives as last year, not that there were no opportunities. A huge amount of etched, mint knives, but with prices to match. I managed to trade into a few, and I had a beautiful original Jimmy Lile large #7 in my possession for a day, before I got an offer I couldn't refuse. I bought it from a guy selling out his small collection, and sold it the next day for a tidy profit. The profit, added in to my original purchase price, I used to make my wife feel better about stayin' home and working! Some of you may know, these old Cobalt, faceted trade beads bring a tidy sum, and this 36" strand is just exquisite!

This post is getting a little long, so I will post my Schrades in a minute or so!!

O.K. First, a nice Lobster, stamped E.WECK & CO NEW YORK, but I have no doubt it's a Schrade Cut Co.

Next is a Schrade Walden Hawbaker Muskrat, with a nice etch. Traded some Case dot whittlers for this guy;

To bad I got a reflection - it's really a nice etch!

Gotta go - more to come!!
