Dale, Except for the addition of a top pin and the EO, it's the same knife as the one you re-bladed for me. That one, the swell end jack, even has the holes in the liners for the extra pin.

Fran

I thought so.
When you get tired of it, let me know. :D

I thought I would post a few more from the show.
None are as impressive as the first two, but I got a few project knives.

1- NYK Hammer Brand Jack
2- a military camper pattern- anyone have a guess on the company? (I don't know)
3- EZ Open Imperial military Jack
4- Imperial Boy Scout with the Phillips Screwdriver
5- Primble Barlow

Guess that is all I can load in one post.
I will have to add more later,

Dale

That EO Imperial military jack is the first I've seen with flat bolsters like that, Dale.

Very cool !

Russell, at the moment the only pattern number I have memorized is 2OT. If I ever need any others I'll call you and ask. :D

Fran

Fran,
That seems to be a trick of the scanner. The bolsters are not flat in person. But they sure look flat in the pic.

Dale

That EO is a prize Fran! Nice peachseed, and wide/full blade!!

LMAO!!!
Fran that was too hilarious!

Dale, that's quite a haul from one show, looks like there was an incredible assortment of vintage knives there from the looks of what you guys have brought home! That military/camper pattern looks kind of Ulster like, but that's really just a guess on my part.

Eric

Maybe you're putting the lid down too hard.

I guess that surgery made my hand stronger than I thought! :D

Eric,
There were a LOT of vintage knives there.
I didn't post some of the old Barlows I got and some excellent parts knives I picked up as well.
There was a family there selling knives from the estates of both the husband's parents & the wife's parents. They had knives dumped on the table in a pile. Some were 2 for $25 for most of the show, then the last half of the last day, some were $5 each. I picked up a beautiful I*XL Barlow, bone handles with a broken master and unused pen blade. I have another I*XL Barlow with a good master that I think will fit. There were several parts knives I bought there.

I also didn't show the non-Schrades I bought, thought most that I bought were Schrade or related (Imperial, NYK, etc).

It is a fun show. You should come out next year in April!

Here are a couple of Staglon Uncle Henry Schrades of which origin has been questioned a few times in the forum:

886UH - With the mysterious S.C.C.+ stamp

Nice looking deuce thawk, I've seen those 77UH's floating around recently, not snagged one yet.

:thumbup:good job dale!!

Hal,
Please look closely at the bolsters of that 886 and see if you can find any evidence of a pivot pin going through the bolsters. Tom Williams said that at Camillus they used a S.C.C. tang stamp on some 204S (electrician knives) that they made for Schrade. I am not sure if Camillus used the S.C.C. stamps on other patterns, but I think it is likely.
If the 886 is through-pin construction, they we know that it is quite possible that Camillus made them, as Camillus never tooled up to produce the Swinden Key type knives.

Your 77UH is nice.
Ya' gotta' love that Gnarly Staglon! :D:D
I bought the first one I ever saw on ebay for $135. Never saw another one with the UH shield and no Ducks Unltd. etch or shield, until Larry said he had one also. Now from looking at ebay, it looks like someone was setting on a pile of them. Another possibility someone mentioned, is that they came from the Camillus auction.

Ah yes, the mysteries of Schrade!

Dale:

On the 886UH with a magnifying glass I can faintly see the round outline on the surface of the bolsters. On some used knifes this is clearly apparent. These are barely visible. Is this what you were looking for? I looked carefully on my 898UH with the same stamp and single center scale pin, and could not see any evidence.

I guess I've not been paying as close attention to Ebay lately. I had not seen any of the 77UH with the shield. At least I got this one for $65.00. So much for me being a wheeler-dealer, huh? :D.

I know the seller, and asked him where he got a couple of them, and if he has more.

Hal

That is it Hal.
That tell tale circle of the pivot pin on the bolsters, means the knife is not Swinden construction.

Now this does not mean that Camillus made the knife, but it certainly makes it more likely.

If a knife is Swinden construction, it was made at the Schrade factory. No other knife maker went to the considerable expense to install the Swinden equipment.

If the knife is NOT Swinden construction, it could have been made anywhere, BUT most of the slipjoints Schrade made, were Swinden construction. No point in installing all that machinery just make a knife without using your investment.

The presents of the pin indicates to me that most likely the knife was not made in the Schrade factory. When they did not make a knife in house at Schrade, Camillus usually made it.

Based on those things & the fact that I know from Tom that Camillus used the SCC tang stamp on some knives they made for Schrade, I think it is most likely that the knife was made by Camillus.

That is my theory currently, subject to change if I find out something different.

Dale

That 804 Carpenters knife can tell some tales I'm sure, real character, nice full blades and very nice bone handles.

Russell

Been awhile since I posted new stuff of mine.
Just acquired these 3 beauties.
Top is a Schrade Walden Stainless. 2nd is a Ulster 81P and the 3rd a Schrade comm. to New York Knife Works from 1976

George, nice grab on the 804, those blades aren't down much at all!:thumbup:

Larry, great finds, those ring turns are cool, aren't they?

Eric

Nice looking trio Larry! The New York Knife Commemorative was one of the first Schrade knives in my collection.
