As Fran will tell you, it cost a bit, but it's a nice knife!
Pammy brought it today:eek:!!

It's not mint, but it's close.

'Ya get what you pay for. The next one, with the darker bone is MINE !

Look familiar Dale ?

Fran

Another fine looker Charlie! super looking bone, flawless it may not be, although it's the next best thing.

Russell

Wow Charlie. That jack looks like a lunch skipper for sure. I like the big fat spear blade and the propeller shield. The bone speaks for itself. A real eye popper you got there.

The only reason I go after those knives, is so I'll have something to entertain you guys with!:D The show must go on!!:D:D

Seriously, thanks for the kind words. Now we gotta find a dark bone version for Fran, who kindly stepped away for me to go after this one!
Thanks Fran!

Here's a couple of new ones-

A Schrade Cut. Co. Rope knife with a special shield for Wall Rope Co., a long time customer of Schrade who had knives made up into '70's. Most of them were the rope or hawksbill patterns. i've been looking for this one for a while since it's one of the first, especially with that Bosun's Mate etch. This knife comes from the 2394 1/2 pattern first seen in the 1938 supplement catalog, also known as the New England Whaler.

The second knife is a special one for me, just found it in a box of old tools that belonged to my grandfather. I always wondered why I'd never found a single pocket knife of his, and there it was the whole time. It's a Camillus Sword Brand two blade, likely a muskrat pattern (although the long pulls and heavy swedge have me a bit baffled), and very well used at that! Snapped the pick moments after I'd found it, ready for a nice oily wipe down :D

Eric, i saw(bid too cheaply) a SCC Rope Knife, v. similar to yours, recently.
if it's not the same one, then there's another out there too.
i have noticed that i will see an older knife i have never previously seen, and then without searching, will see a few more of the 'same' knife in the next few weeks.

Charlie, I'm sure you could find a cheaper date if you tried. ;)

Eric, Great rope knife ! Full blades and a nice etch.

Roland, I've had the same experience. Find a rare item and another is sure to turn up soon. It's happened to me on many occasions by chance, but it's especially true on fleabay.

Fran

Well done on the Schrade Rope knife Eric, I was watching it although went in another direction for something else, looks real good close up.

Roland, those sitings are like buses, you don't see one for ages then three turn up at once.

The bone appears to be period correct. Too bad the steel has been sanded or scotch-brited. Original finishes are lost. Nice photography!!

Charlie, to help us less experienced guys, can you explain what you see to know: "Too bad the steel has been sanded or scotch-brited"; and that this is not a mint knife ?
thank you, roland
