Does anyone collect this pattern? Is this an unusual configuration?

I had never seen this pattern for real until Eric (ea42) showed his bone handled version a while back. Just like thawk's heres my Delrin version 294.

Hard for me to tell, but both of these both look just like my other Schrades. For sure I don't see any rivet at the end where the blades pivot. I'm not exactly sure what clue I'm looking for from the outside though.

thawk,
While I have lost track of the number of Schrades I have worked on with the Swinden key, I have not yet figured out a sure test to tell if a knife is of Swinden construction or not, without taking the knife apart.

If you can see pivot pins in the bolsters it is definitely not Swinden construction. If you cannot see pivot pins, it is either Swinden or has been so well polished that the pins are not visible in the bolsters! On an older knife that has been used, the pins are usually more visible.

Ah yes, another of the wonders of Schrade.

I have a few of the older ones to show off also. Peachseed bone was dyed some interesting colors!

Charlie, I thought you might have some ugly older examples to break out sooner or later. Let me know if you want to get rid of those.

Always nice to see you keeping up with the crowd Charlie!! :D:D

Unbelievable trapper overload guys!:thumbup::thumbup:

Charlie, that's SOME bone!!!

Delmas, just to be clear, your Frontiers(won from one of the most interesting Schrade sellers on ebay) are Lockbacks, but not part of the Schrade LB1-LB8 series, although made by the same company(Imperial Schrade). i have a few Frontiers, very good knives, plenty solid enough to never let you down.

darn messed up and deleted the photos of my LB 8 that i won on ebay. came with box and papers and is in fantastic shape. will try and take some photos and pay my money to show them to you. has a serial number of 89075, which should put it about 1982? if they are numbered like the LB 7's.

Only recently i aquired my first two Schrade knives; number one is a model 152 Sharpfinger, probably from the seventies, but maybe someone here can pinpoint it more accurately.
The stitching on the sheath was worn out, so i replaced it with new nylon thread which obviously has to age a little bit. :)
Gave it a nice polished edge on my set of Paper Wheels, and now it's ready for it's new life.

The other one, a model 150T Deerslayer, i received today.
Basically in very good shape, just as the sheath, but this one also received the Paper Wheel treatment.
I'm not sure if this one is from the sixties of seventies; it only has a small etching which reads: "Schrade USA"

even the box was still in good condition. the only problem the sheath had button problems but that is way minor.

Hey kwackster, i think you got the 2 best models of the Schrade FB line-up.
the 152OT was my first Schrade too, about 30 years ago, long before i became a Schrade collector. used it hunting, field dressed many a deer and a few elk. the blade shape and size are perfect for this type of cutting work.
may i suggest an LB7 as the next really great Schrade to add to your collection .
roland

Roland has some excellent advice. If you should complete his assignment, your next task is to acquire a four inch Schrade stockman of any ilk, and a 165 fixed blade, the older the better.:)
