Your right Eric, it is more exciting than ebay. I don't even mind paying a bit more than ebay.
Of course not having to pay shipping is a plus, and the instant gratification of walking out of the store with them in your hand is priceless! :D

Just started collecting Schrade Brands. These are some I picked up at a steal in an antique store over the weekend. It was a collectors heaven at $15 each all new with no boxes. All made in the good ol' USofA.
I'll be posting here regularly now that I am focusing more on building my Schrade and Buck collections. Looking forward to collecting with all of ya.

Take care,

SN

Thanks! I have been looking for an 858 for quite some time now. In fact this was the first I was able to handle. Other than this one I have only seen pics. Just got lucky I guess. I don't usually voice my deeds to others, but in an "Old Timey" kind a way I felt the need to return the favor. So the next day I went back and gave the guy a few Spydercos to sell. He was just another fellow trying to make it through these tough times. When I think of an Old Timer knife or any traditional knife for that matter, I can't help but think about the way my small town used to be (it's bigger now) where those who carried those knives knew everyone. Everybody knew everybody and everybody helped everybody. Just something good to share.

Tom and Spydie, nice finds! What's with everyone finding these antique stores, and just plain 'ol stores, bulging with Schrades lately?!? And why aren't there any around here??:grumpy::D:D

You haven't seen Russell's tire tracks around your neighborhood, have you Eric ?

Nice finds guys ! Tom, were those fleamarkets up in Pa.?

Fran

Hey Spydie, welcome to Schrade(U.S.A.). the most knifin' fun you can have is right here. the more you collect, the more you will discover the infinite variety Schrade produced. and they are all good knives. even the old beat up ebay ones are still tight 'n smooth. be sure to include Schrade-Walden(beware of imposters), Schrade Cut. Co. and Ulster Knife Co.(better than Ulster USA).
and you're not finished with 858 yet. your's is stainless(+), the carbon steel one came first and is harder to find.
and Tom, you found more Schrades than in all the flea markets in Canada put together !

Brrm, Brrm, Eric!! Only kidding! I think all the antique stores around here are owned by the same folks around your area.

Russell

Well that goes without saying, you would have hit all those first before you headed up this way:D Remember the SW display case up at the shop we visited last week? SOMEBODY (I think you know who) sniffed it out and snagged it a couple of days ago.

Eric

My latest. I have wanted the Deer Hunter for a long time. Lost a BEAUTY to another bidder a while back. This one is an odd mismatch, probably a last-days slap together. Deer Hunter handle with DU tang stamp. The only thing wrong with it (not even sure "wrong" is the right word) is the front rivet is set fairly deeply on the right side. Still happy to finally have an orange one.

Fran,

How on earth did you know I found those knives in PA?

You been tracking me or tracking the knives? I did in fact get them in PA. I just got back home this evening from a trip and I brought home a few more finds:

ULSTER USA Boyscout Knife Pristine condition
IMPERIAL FISH KNIFE Gently Used
Imperial Lockback Used
SCHRADE-WALDEN Pushbutton Pilot Survival Knife- Good Condition

I just can't seem to get enough

Schrade + MA5 Fillet Knife with nylon Sheath

Since you guys are talking about recent store finds, I figured I'd let you know about the one I found this week . Hardware store had the new china display up so I asked if they had any of the older USA models left. He showed me a shelf full in the back. Got 4 960t's a few 80t's 60t's and 70t's all at 50% off list price Dan

1995 LB3 11700
1996 LB3 1898
1997 LB3 255
TOTAL 402,024

IRV, v. interesting on those LB3 production numbers. i have spent a huge amount of time on ebay in last 2-3 years, yet i've only seen a couple of these. but Dave's got a bunch of LB3s so i guess it's just random chance of seeing them. i certainly do see lots of 7's and 5's.
roland

During the hight of LB-7 production they produced in one year the total of all the years of LB-3's run.
And the same could be said of the 34OTs to the LB-7's. One year (maybe 2) of 34OT's comes close to all the years of LB-7's produced.
The totals are mind boggling.

this is "hot off the press" and i'm excited enough to post the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110411539374&_trksid=p2759.l1259
o.k. so maybe ya gotta be a Schradeophile to feel such joy for a buncha old knives; BUT, the 2 blade ebony Jack is a Cut. Co., 2 are Schrade-Walden and one is Schrade 505SC. all for $33 ! makes me Mr. happy !!
he does say "various degrees of damage" but the seller knows his knife stuff and his descriptions for other listings seemed to have high standards, so here's hoping for some snap and not much wiggle. havin' fun on a sunny Sunday in July while little one sleeps, roland

Dang, Roland, looks like a nice haul there for a great price! But it would have cost you more if I had seen it, especially with that jack in there!! Post some better pics when you get them.
