Just started collecting Schrade Brands. These are some I picked up at a steal in an antique store over the weekend. It was a collectors heaven at $15 each all new with no boxes. All made in the good ol' USofA.

I'll be posting here regularly now that I am focusing more on building my Schrade and Buck collections. Looking forward to collecting with all of ya.

Take care,

SN

That Rancher is a beauty! Nice score!

Older set that I have coming. can anyone date these for me? I think that they would be 1978-79? Thanks, Dan ebay item # 220448082242

You can nearly date those pups, and you are correct probably. The 51OT was only in production from 1978 to 1981. I don't know if it could be pinpointed more than that without one more clue.

LB7 Serial Numbers:
1977 - Serials #0001 - #17693
1978 - Serials #17694 - #334585
1979 - Serials #334586 - #785250
1980 - Serials #785251 - #999,999, #A00001 - #A99999, #B00001 - #B18423
1981 - Serials #B18424 - #B99999, #C00001 - #C81575

When you get the LB7, look at the serial number. That will be the clue. You got some nice knives there Dan. A few three line stamps, which is a good thing. Plus I'm betting that Lumberjack is carbon. Do you get any boxes with those?

Hah! Now I see the serial number in the description so the little chart doesn't have the D Series. Some of the knives could easily be different ages.

Nice knives there, Aggie! I like the 61OT pattern, which prompted me to buy this. Please note these are NOT my pics, I borrowed them from Herman and the ebay auction I won. My pics couldn't do this knife justice. The man does some BEAUTIFUL work!

Good looking pair of Old Timer Stockmans aggiebuilder2003!!

Your not wrong about Hermans work Dave! Superb example on your 61OT.

Yeah, I'm jealous over that HW 61OT. Unfortunately, those are still too rich for my blood. My wife and little girl still seem to think my money is better spent on them.;) I tend to agree with them, although if an 8OT came up, I think I'd have to sacrifice a kidney or something to get my hands on it!:D

The set came today, Looks like they are all carbon blades ( at least I don't see a + after the schrade name. They all look great other than a little tarnish from never being out of display case,I think I'll leave them wired to case just as they are. Didn't get any boxes or sheaths with them, Dan

It's not like I hadn't already spent enough last Saturday on a nice 3-3/8" Challenge double button, and another Wolfertz barehead jack, I had to keep looking ! I found this in a junk box, missing the shield. I'm not sure if the cope was replaced with a spey, or if it was tipped and reprofiled, but the knife is tight and snappy. A good friend sent a shield, and as soon as the epoxy sets, she's going back in my pocket.

Should I have passed this up for $5 ?

I would say it's re-profiled Fran. I dont think there are any other blades that Schrade made that were made long and thin like the coping blade on the 804. For Five bucks I think that was a good bargain to say the least. missing shield or not.

Russell

Five bucks was for that nice dark peachseed you like so much Fran!
The rest was free! Great knife to tote, with such good snap!

Excellent knife Fan! I think you got a fantastic deal on that one, I'd have paid at least five times that for sure. The clips are in great shape, and those handles are primo!

Does anyone collect this pattern? Is this an unusual configuration?

I have a couple of them. I prefer the pen over a trapper with the big spey.

Schrade 294 pattern. Less common than the 293 Trapper, the older 294 is found with a sabre ground master blade, ground on just the mark side. Older Schrade Walden's have a fancier bolster too.

Schrade called it a Half Trapper. I'd love to come up with the one here from the 54 catalog with the infamous scrotum shield (coined by KnifeHead).

That bone-handled Primble is nice Hal! Interesting blade grind.
Are both of yours "swinden" construction? I'm pretty sure mine is. I can't see a trace of a rivet in the bolsters.

Great buy Fran!
However, it appears someone has replaced the sheepfoot blade with a spey blade (is it stainless steel?). It appears that the sheepfoot blades on the 804 were often abused. I have one with a broken sheepfoot. It is hard to find a blade to replace it with as most of the sheepfoot blade spares I have are for stockman patterns & the nail nick of the sheepfoot blade is cut on the opposite side of the blade in the stockman.

But no matter, you got a real bargain for $5!

Hard for me to tell, but both of these both look just like my other Schrades. For sure I don't see any rivet at the end where the blades pivot. I'm not exactly sure what clue I'm looking for from the outside though.

This Primble "913" looks new, but under a magnifying glass, I can see the traces of the Primble etch. It is an interesting grind on the clip. The pile side is flat ground, and has a nicely matched swedge on both sides. The handles are outstanding.
