Sweet knife there, Hal!!

Squeakyval,
Nice Avatar! I like those knives, and FINALLY was able to find all six. That little two-bladed all black one is tough to get hold of!!

Here is my latest. I was amazed I got the set, as I threw out a lowball bid figuring if I got it, great, if not, no big deal. I've seen all three go individually for what I got the set WITH the display case (no clue yet if it's original or not) for.

just got this one in the mail. what i didn't know was that it is still in the original packaging. when i saw that i said to myself oh no i have messed up and gotten a china knife but no right there on the tang is the good ole USA stamp. now the big question is to set it free or let it be to keep it high value later on? any suggestions. it is in a plastic cover which will require cutting to free it. but it is soooo nice looking.

2003. and this 96OT is a GREAT user knife. the saw blade cuts very well and once you start carrying a knife with a saw blade, you'll be surprised how useful it is(e.g. coping ends of trim in finishing carpentry; etc).
but, o.k. this is a "Collectors" forum; but Users are funner.

Nice find Delmas!

Dave, I believe that case is original to the set, although I'm not sure about the cloth. Might be that the molded insert underneath is what originally housed the knives, although I could be wrong, I believe the 90th or 95th ann. knife also had the satin cloth cover. Is the insert colored, or just standard off white?

maybe i can figure out a way to free it from the plastic and use it and return it to its home without ruinning the orig packaging. :jerkit:

i was quite excited to get this Schrade for $32, NIB, papers, all correct. it is one of best, most useful, patterns Schrade ever made, and now is a 'collectible' too, and i think it's value is more than i paid even just as a 'user'

i think this blue stripe box is the last one Schrade used, so this knife is probably 2000-2004 (?), but i had not seen a Boulder CO. address before:

if you've never carried a 97OT, i suggest you treat yourself and try it out. the saw blade cuts quickly and smoothly and the pick and tweezers often come in handy. Super Nice Knife.

Nice set Dave, I had never seen that set before until being up for auction.

The only Cope knives seen before that are the Green Delrin variety.

Roland, that is the knife that set me on the trail for collecting Schrades. One fine model the 97OT. Good find.

Some I've dug up lately

It was the next to the last box. Blue "diamondplate" was the last, so your box is circa 2000-01, if I remember correctly. And that aggressive "Buzz Saw" saw blade I remember first seeing on the Craftsman five-blade utility knife from some years earlier. I don't recall it being used on a production Old Timer before that or after that until the 97OT. It does cut very well. I have several of the Craftsman utility knife version but alas, not a 97OT.

Nice knives Mr. Voyles! Of course I am prejudiced toward the mid-production 15OT and the early 165UH! What is the serial on that Prospector knife?

Michael

PS- Any update on the anticipated release date for your Schrade book?

I just happened onto a 97ot but I didn't get it for 32 bucks, however it is a nice knife and handy for hunting there always seems to be a small limb of some sort that you miss when setting in your stands or blinds and the saw is handy to clear the shooting lane

Picked up a couple of EO jacks recently, it's the top two in the photo (figured I'd picture them with their brethren). One's a cocobola barehead, and the other's an ebony with capped end. 2021 and 2012 respectively on page 10 for those of you with catalogs. Maybe we can get A.G. to put out a re-print of those, mine's been opened so many times it's falling apart!

Eric, v.,v. nice !
vintage American 2 blade EO Jacks is one focus of my collection. they are so solid and perfect feeling in the hand.
i assume those are Cut. Co. ?
roland

Thanks Roland!
Yes, all Cut. Co's , nice solid half stops on everything as well. The barehead seems to have a heftier spring than the others, very smooth action, but nearly a nail breaker. They did right putting the EO notch on that model! It seems to be the least used of the bunch, lots of original finish on it (although there was a lot of rust setting in when it arrived, and the joints were drier than Death Valley in July!).

Eric

Thumbs up on real group of winners Eric!! A lot of knife companies today are trying to bring back the look of the past. I've not seen one yet that comes as close to what you have there. Sixty years plus in age to boot.
