Roland, nice find! I believe that's a 225 frame, the Olsens were a very early seventies line, maybe even '69 for the first ones (Ulsters). I'll see if I have time tomorrow to do a little write up for ya.

Eric

I have one of the Olsen 119's, marked just as posted. The only difference I can see between it and my 225 H (other than markings and Olsen shield) is the nail nick on the 225H is much deeper than on the Olsen. I look forward to seeing more about the olsens. Thanks, John.

Sorry about the crappy pic. This is my first USA Schrade but certainly not my last.

Really great knife too! Cheers!

....The 8341-B was unused but was showing some signs of it's long storage. Cleaned up well but has a few spots on the backsprings remaining. My only 1985, rest of them all 1983. Here's the 8341-G, now I need to find a red one.
Already have all three colors of the 1983 barlow.

Oh, but I love those Heritage knives! If I could make a Christmas wish, I would have complete sets in all of the years and colors! I need to get my time machine fixed!

I love the colors and textures of that Boker bone too! They had a whale of a time getting them produced and shipped to the U.S. from Germany, and even then had to reject scads of them for hidden cracks! Yep, seems that the bone used by Boker was from an old stock (imported from South America, I think... will have to look it up again to be sure), and the cracks were only found on assembly at ISC... until they came up with a way to detect them pre-assembly. Would you believe that the cracks showed when soaked in a solvent? Of course, Boker replaced them, but it did cause some delays in assembly and shipping while the new scales were made and flown over.

(more inane Schrade trivia!)

it's 3 3/8" and looks similar to the famous "Ulster 10th Mountain Division knives", but lacking the bail.
i do not have one of those for comparison of size.
anyone else have this knife or a "10th" to compare ?
roland

I love the functionality Roland, with the phillips etc... I s that real Sambar stag or is that jigged bone? Never seen one. Nice score. I got a real nice Puma recently but it's no Schrade...

Saturday December 12 was the OKCA (Oregon Knife Collectors Association) Mini-Show in Eugene.
I thought I should have my head examined driving for 3 hours in the ice, which fell in the wee hours of the morning.

I didn’t buy many knives, but I got one that made it worth the trip (if you are a crazy knife collector).

A nice Ulster Jack with peach seed bone.

So, you tell me; Was it worth the trip? :D:D

OMG!! A complete waste of time, and a huge risk, Dale!!!

Just send that knife up here, so you don't have to live with the embarrasment!!:D:D

Perfect patina, nice dark Peachseed; looks near full! How often do you see that Ulster pattern with bone?? Amazing find!!! Especially so far from Ellenville!

Dale,

That'd be worth the trip even if you had to walk!! Absolutely beautiful!

Yep, that's what i first thought too: Taylor/Offshore
But, take a look:

this is some of the nicest Desert Ironwood i have seen, perfectly fitted, and with fancy cable mosaic pins. very well done.
i've never seen one of these before, so i think it was not an "in-house" customization, but was certainly done by a very skilled individual.
sure dresses up this standard pattern.

Well, I have had this knife for a while, it is not my most recent Schrade, but it is recently changed. It is a work-in-progress and not finished yet.

I have always thought that bone handles would look good on a Sharpfinger.
Please let me know what you think about these camel bone handles.

BTW, All you guys on there have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Knife Year! :D

Thanks,
Dale

Very nice Dale. Schrade made excellent using knives(as we all know), but usually with the standard rather plain handles, so they are ideal for customizing with attractive natural materials.

on a whim posted a low bid and won this knife. i hope it is what i think it is. anyone care to make me feel better by saying i got a nice knife. will post photos of it when i have it at the house.

It looks like a nice user, genuine Schrade Walden, with some kind of worn spot on the front handles. It is not bone handles. When they stamped the SCHRADE WALDEN on the shield, it was after the change to delrin. Looks like the blades are pretty full. Enjoy it.

Well, it's a 38 yr. old or older knife in pretty good condition, and it's a Schrade, and you paid about $18. yeah, i think it's a very good deal.
roland

You got a great deal on a fine user!
I find he trapper to be a useful pattern.

Nice price as well!
