Just bought an LB8 on the bay. This one is interesting as the tang is stamped SCHRADE + USA B.C. instead of LB8.. Doesn't appear tampered with and has original box but no serial number. Does anyone have any idea what B.C. could be? I'll try to get some pics up.

I thought it might be a Bear Cave and Bear Claw crossed my mind. So, does this mean I have an oddball? Thanks for the reply and happy holidays to you.

This is becoming more interesting. Perhaps the blade was installed accidentally into the wrong handle at Schrade. It does not appear tampered with and looks untouched from what I can tell. It appears this blade was meant for a scrimshaw then? Lots of weird stuff came out of the Schrade doors from what I've read here. Thanks Codger.

Michael, did you notice the Sundance knife in your link has a Bear Cult blade in it? Looks like they had a LOT of those blades to use up (Or someone on the line needed better glasses ) :D

It could well be that a supply of odd stamped blades (including BC) were in stock in July of 2004. As you recall, they kept some workers on almost until the October auction with orders... "If it fits, assemble it!" They were trying to boost up the WIP to help alleviate some of the bankruptcy debt. IMHO, this may be where at least some of these came from.

This could be the case Codger. My best guess is that this is one of the last since it does not have a serial number and has an odd blade. It came in a "Sharp Idea" box which I know is the later packaging. I think serial numbers went away in the mid to late 90's.

It's been a while, so here are a few I've picked up recently.

An LB7DP with what I believe may be factory stag handles. If they are not, someone did a fantastic job fitting and finishing them.

This is a Federal Duck Styamp trapper with a serated spey blade and bone handles.

And a Federal Duck Stamp stockman with both a serated sheepfoot blade and a punch.

These last 2 were kind of funny. They were on an auction with a reserve at first. I was the high bidder, but apparently not near the reserve. When they didn't sell, they were put on a buy-it now for a good bit LESS than my high bid on the auction, so I grabbed them.

nice pressed jeans? sorry couldn't help it. have always wondered what backdrop to use when photographing knives. it appears that denim does a good job.

Sorry, it was the best I had at the time. My sister has borrowed my light box for some stuff she wants to photograph so I had to make do.:D
