Roland, without looking it up I think that knife was included on the American Eagle statuette display, I'll have to double check though.

Eric

Thanks Eric. that would explain why it is rare to see one of these. it's the only one i have seen on ebay since i started 'Schrade-ing', 3 years ago.

Here you go Roland, this is from the inside front cover of the 2002 catalog. Note the different shield and serialization. I'm thinking your knife may have been a second run to get rid of all those extra blades they had leftover, possibly an end of days knife even. There were a TON of these (sans handles) laying around the factory after the close, I've got a couple myself ;):D

Eric, thanks again for helping ID my "W.F." knife. i guess it's "End of Days", but whomever hafted and sharpened it did a superb job. scales are just the right thickness to feel just right when in hand. the blades do have the factory edge(confirmed with 10x loupe) but are super sharp. literally 'hair-poppin'. Trappers are not a pattern i particularly like, but this knife feels so good, it's immediately becoming "My Favorite Schrade", displacing my Heritage Whittler. it's that nice !
A safe and friendly New Year's Eve to all my Schrade friends.

A friend found me this knife in the recent show in Tennessee. The salesman numbers don't show up well in this scan, but they are quite clear. Good friend!

Thanks Beaver! The blades all snap like new, and fit well in the knife. I've taken a top scan here;

BTW, the scratches are on the scanner glass!

Here are the rest of the knives that came from Tennessee, with the stag pen.

Larry, thanks for the flyer info, I didn't realize it went back as far as 1998.

Larry, what is meant by "special cost" ?
For $36 i got the knife, but no eagle ! still a good deal as this is one of the best made production Schrades i own.

Charlie, it just totally amazes me how you keep getting these absolutely mint S.C.C. knives. must be getting a little crowded around your house with these old knives lying everywhere ?
as you know, i collect vintage E.O. Jacks, so i'll help ya out and give it a good home, all in the spirit of helping you keep an orderly home !

Here is my newest Schrade, well re-newed anyway.

I started with a Sharpfinger then rehandled it with dyed camel bone.
I used mosaic pins and then I inset the shield crooked (but it is hard to move the hole)! :grumpy:
I polished her up and then customized the factory sheath so that it didn't scratch the highly polished bone handles.

I suppose I will take it to the show and sell it as a second. Oh well. :(
I have often said that I learn something with every knife I make and on this one I learned to be sure the shield is lined up!

Dale

PS- The scratches are on my scanner, NOT the knife. I think Charlie & I have scanners from the same company! :D

Not real new, but recent. A Schrade Cut Co equal end pen and a Schrade Walden NY pen.

The equal end is single spring 3", super thin and flat, has nice half-stops. The other one is tiny at 2 5/8", shadow pattern with bail, OVB / Our Very Best and 53Y etch. Both knives are stamped on both blades.

Anyone know pattern numbers?

The 53Y must be a Hibbard, Spencer and Bartlett pattern number, so a subcontract knife.
Very nice Pens, Hal!

Hal,

I think the larger equal end is #7424SqMB, page 74 of Cat. E. If you don't have the catalog I can copy an image for you. It appears that your knife has flat bolsters, which would match up with that particular number.

Still working on the other, is it definitely 2 5/8"? I see a number at 2 1/2 and others at 2 7/8. None at 5/8 yet.

VERY nice knives!

Eric
