Eric

Yes ea42, The Old Timer is a 60T.Its came with the box, papers and belt sheath.Sorry the photo didnt show that knife in the best way.I see my photos are on the large side. I will try to make future photos smaller.I hope you enjoy the photos.

I have a real nice Schrade Walden Amber bone trapper on the way .Ill be glad to post it here soon as it comes in . Have a great weekend .

very nice examples , happy collecting, you do know it is habit forming, dont you?---------------------brady

Congrats on your new family members 17..
The 152 is a great knife. One of the more comfortable sheath knives I've held.

I have a n.i.b early one, and the Uncle Henry version

I got a nice old Schrade Walden 25OT with the original sheath in the mail yesterday. :D
If the wife ever gets around to re-installing all the programs so I can load pics, I'll get one posted.

When I took it out of the box, she looked at it and said, "Thats huge" :D

Michael, I think that's a Bear and Son judging by the lack of handle pins and overall F&F.

Remfan, not sure if you're aware of it or not but those Schrade Walden knives aren't from the actual old Schrade Walden company, but rather from the new Taylor Schrade. Some were made by Camillus when they were still in business, others were/are made by Bear, MANY are made in China.

Roland, I was watching that one, had fifteen minutes left so I figured I'd kill the time by hopping over here for a few minutes, which turned into half an hour!! AARRGGGHHH!

AMAZING snag buddy, you can't beat that price!

Eric

ea42,thanks for the extra information about my Walden trapper. No, I did not know it wasnt made at the Walden plant .The Blade is marked Schrade Walden USA If thats a clue to help where is was made.( Guess I should have been looking for Walden N.Y. on the blade)

It seems to be a very well made knife with brass liners.I would like to think it was made in the USA.I wouldnt mind it Camillus built it but China,:thumbdn:

now they are getting just sneaky putting usa on the tang. that is how i (before now) could tell if it were real. darn them in looking at the papers how can you tell if it is camillus or china? i guess it should state on the papers the real origin?

They have been doing this for a few years. Many of the Schrade Walden folding knives on Ebay today are not genuine Schrades. Be especially wary of yellow folders with etched blades. Quite a few cigar box knives are Taylors too. They are not hard to distinguish. Being familiar with the valid pattern numbers via the old catalogs is the way I determine. That and the fact the sellers often have high starting prices on the auctions.

If you notice in my photo above, the box reads made in the USA.
Id be pretty disappointed if the knife is that highly misrepresented!!!

Taylor Brands (Stewart Taylor) owns the portfolio of Imperial Schrade trademarks. Shortly after he acquired them at the dissolution auction, he "rented" some of the trademarks to Smoky Mountain Knife Works and possibly others. They in turn placed special factory orders with several U.S. based cutleries (some already mentioned) to produce knives using those nostalgia marks. This allowed them to "ride the wave" of Schrade buyers, many of whom didn't have the knowledge and skill to recognize post-2004 produced nostalgia knives for what they were. Yours is likely a U.S. made knife. Bear & Son, as well as the others mentioned, were and are capable of producing nice, well made knives. You bought one and now you know. If you feel the seller "tricked" you, return it. Most often we trick ourselves though.

Thank you all for the valuable information.I find it very interesting. I will surely NOT return this knife. I enjoy the quality and the style.I may tend to even carry it alot now which would be a good thing .The price wasnt out of sight either so Im still happy with the purchase and the addition to my Schrade knives.

Yes, either keeping it and recognizing it for what it is, a well made nostalgia knife, or using it (this is afterall the primary purpose of a knife) are excellent choices. Unfortunately the few examples that have found their way into my "drawer of shame", some because I didn't look before I bid and one because I wanted to review the thing, I don't have the option of using. They are the first imported Chinese knives and the quality is dismal. They are more of a parody than a tribute to the real Schrades.
