Roland, nice finds! That pine cone LB-7 is an SFO for Tharpe. They're an employee awards company, and they did a lot of business with Schrade. They're the company that, say 3M would go to to order some employee incentive gifts (perfect attendance, twenty years' service, etc), and knives was one of the items they offered. Usually it was the scrim knives, that one looks like a step up!:D

..they also issued fixed blades..I have a mint 160OT with the Acorn on its handle...complete with original box, bling, and sheath....

Thanks guys, and yes, the Tharpe 'Acorns' i have seen before do not seem as 'fancy' as this LB7. it is extremely well finished. would make a fine gift to a non-collector who would use it.

Roland - Is your LL Bean lockback an LB3 or LB5? The sheath looks like a shorty to me. Just wondering. I don't see the LL Bean too often, and I like the way they look with a shield.:thumbup:

A couple of Schrade Waldens in the View Paks

Schrade Walden 774 Half Congress 3" closed length. This old pattern with just the two blades was never shielded for some reason. It would look better if it did.

Schrade Walden 880 KON-KAV beautiful grinds, a little tarnish.

Hal, LB5 for sure. i have an identical sheath except black and marked 'Schrade' that came with an LB5. most LB5 sheaths have square, not rounded corners at the bottom, but the LLBean and the black Schrade sheaths are the rounded ones.
now i know who won that 774 from Barry and you know who made you pay more !
really like your 880 Kon-Kav. let me know if you see another good one on the bay.

I'm not so sure Final Production Run was a Schrade term or if it was coined by the guys that obtained some of the Schrade stock after the bankruptcy. Is that round shield in the middle of the knife raised? Are the bolsters silver rather than brass? I'll bet that thing would unzip a belly in nothing flat. I think that is what they call an LB9 maybe? I can't remember for sure.

round shield raised, bolster nickel, and the pins are flat on one side and a bit raised on the side with the round shield. the blade certainly has the right stamp. maybe a blade with a "new" handle? could well be a LB-9 since in 1995 there was a 9OT which had the same blade.

They were never listed as a LB9 in the catalogs but we have it on good account the they called em LB-9's at the factory.
Great knife.

Hal those are su-weet! That 880 sure looks like bone, they really had those dyes down pat:thumbup:

Well this one's not a Schrade, but I'd call it a relative for sure considering who the guys are that built it:D
And that bone sure looks familiar, doesn't it? Blue rope jigged, same as the 100th anniversary cigar box knives!

I like that CS Moon Pie Trapper. Good to see a smaller shield with a color that matches the bolsters.

Nice score, Bridgeman! Here's a contrasting knife, reaching back a bit in time - arrived today!
Sharpened a bit, a few specks, but nice snap, half stops and Pearl!

Is that the same knife, Eric? I didn't get it from Ebay.

Yikes! Eric...I must go check all my knives in the sealed shipping container after seeing that poor little orphan left out..........mine are all individually wrapped in cotton towelling and were all wiped before putting away..except the mint 2OT and mint 3OT which have never been touched.......those photos send nightmares to any serious collector I'm sure....even the thought of the celluloids munching on each other makes me wake in a sweat!!
