Ah! Different pattern - 1/8" shorter than mine. I suspect it's a 2266 vs. my 2156.
It would probably clean up not too bad!

just got this one, i do love the UH series and the way the handle feels. and got it at a reasonable price. any history on this one?

yep i was surprised to have gotten it at that price. made for a nice memorial day.and speaking of here is THANKS to all the veterens out there who protected us and kept us free.

You were lucky I was asleep when it went off .

I was the other bidder:p

I just got this one, a 50UH. Almost like a 5UH, but subtle differences. Another pattern number with no known history, yet. Schrade did this to keep us on our toes. No box no papers of course.

SCHRADE 50UH

It has a drop point blade, pretty thin, with a hollow grind.

I have a 5UH in front of me. It has a prominent pivot pin for the blade showing in the bolster, but otherwise it appears to be identical to your knife. Does yours show a pin? If not, does that mean that the "5" was made for Schrade by Camillus? I have a 55UH which has a linerlock and a lanyard hole. All 3 blades are identical except for tang stamp.

Actually, I have 9 variations of this pattern. The 55 linerlock is the only one which shows no visible evidence of a pivot pin for the blade. One of the others is a Craftsman 95225, with a UH blank shield on one side, and a long oval blank shield on the other side, a rear bolster, and slight blade differences. I have a friend who uses this pattern to field dress about 20 to thirty big game animals a year.

The 50UH does have a pin. Differences are purely cosmetic.

Side by side, the nail nick, lockback cutout, shape of handle bottom, and the blade taper near the tip are slightly different, but the biggest difference is the zero in the tang stamp. I have a couple of 55UH as well, no visible pin on either side of the bolsters, both with lanyard holes.

And these came in yesterday (6/3/10). The small 2 blade knife is one of the "Cigar Box Classics". I don't know which one. Does anyone know what the model # of this knife is?

The yellow knife is unknown to me as well. Any help in ID'ing it would be appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, the cigar box knife is based on the 272 model. Here are a couple links to the flyers on lrv's site.

I believe the yellow one was one made for Taylor after he bought the rights. I've heard some were made by Camillus, some by Bear, and other makers. Is there a pattern number stamped on the pile side of the main blade? It is US made, but not by the original Schrade. But that is just pure conjecture based on the tang stamp that looks just like one I have at home. It's not a bad quality knife, just not "really" a Schrade.

That yellow stockman with the Everlasting Sharp etch is a Camillus (I believe) made for Taylor, pre 2007 and post 2004. I've heard they are nicely made stockmen. On Ebay they are a knife you can rest assured will never have a $.99 cent starting bid price, or a full picture of the plastic tube if one is offered. There is no number on the rear tang. If they offer a pattern number in the description, it probably ends in SW.

I like that green peanut PYG.

These big old hunters used to be the bread and butter of the old companies, and Steve Pfeiffers in his new book on Case knives says that at one time they were the #1 seller at CASE. Here are two old Schrades, a Cutco and a Walden, in genuine bone, with saberground master blades. They are in nearly new condition (they were not made in a mint). About the time (1960) that Delrin came on the scene the blades became flat ground. The sheaths don't go with these knives, but they also are from the 1958-1962 period, and I think they were sold with Delrin handled models. Some of the sheaths from various companies in this time frame are quite charming, I think. My scanner hates shiny metal, and I don't know how to do a workaround; my skill with that machine is a little weak. Sorry.

Beautiful folding hunters Calvin! Don't see to many nice ones with bone like that. Cool sheaths too. Are you sure those aren't scabbards? :p

Definately sheafs. And the deer/fish/bird one is a match for the sheath of my 148STC Ted Williams EverLast Edge if that give a better idea of the time period, i.e. post 1960 (1967 in this case).

Nice knives and better scans than my HPC5140 gives by a long shot!

Michael, do the scabbards go with the Derlin knifes? I thought they were pretty good scans too.

Man, those are two examples that have eluded me for years, beautiful pieces! Check out all the pins in that Cut. Co, those slabs weren't going anywhere!:thumbup:
