Maybe that is the merschaum bone? So does that cracked ice count as "Mother Of Toilet Seat?" Still trying to get my arms around the difference between MOP and MOTS, so please don't think I'm making a digg on your knife. I picked that up in another thread so I hope that is what MOTS really stands for. I like it a lot! Hoping not to offend. . .
Chuck
None taken Chuck, in the least. It's confusing identification sometimes. Mine is an imitation pearl (I think). It looks alot better than what my picture shows. Schrade Walden called some of this material Marine Pearl. Schrade used some, and so did Western Cutlery, that looks more like pearl than other cracked ice. Larry, do you know what the Schrade "Marine Pearl" material is? Is it man made or is it a mollusk shell material?
The true cracked ice celluloid is what is affectionately called MOTS. It was used on guitars, tabletops, and yes toilet seats. Kind of a 50's thing. Not sure who coined the MOTS phrase.
The pure white one, I have not the slightest idea what it is. Some kind of plastic.
