I just got my first 881 a couple of days ago too. It's a late model one with Schrade+ blades.

That is a Founders Edition. Schrade revived the 881 in 2002 or 2003 for this stainless version.

Hey, I've got one of those too. I think it was meant to be a 100 year anniversary knife. :)

Maybe not my latest as I have kept it this way for many years, but still new in it's clam shell prison.
I have had folks tell me I should take it out, but I already have plenty of user knives.
To me this one is a small "time capsule" that some day in the future someone may or may not open.

Schrade must have been working overtime making knives and other items; for their 100th Anniversary.
As for keeping knives in clam-packs; It is a "time Capsule", knife and paper=work all in one sealed unit.

This is a knife I would like in a Clam Pack, I have only ever seen two of them; and they are in my collection.
Their must be more of them, out there!

Thanks for the info. I saw that the 881 was cataloged till 1986 and assumed Schrade changed the blades at some point. I have seen the Founders Model before but didn't make the connection.

Just picked this one up,will post more pics when it shows up. Has the Shrade USA LTD tang stamp.

I just acquired a Schrade 1940T with Williams stamped on other side of blade. It had file work on liners, blade and inside spine. Beautiful Elephant Ivory scales. Don't know what it's worth but I want to find out

The best way to find out what a "one of a kind item" is worth, is to sell it. The amount someone is prepared to pay, is what it's worth.
Without a photo; $25 to $200, only if you can find someone that wants an item.

I doubt Herman Williams has recently used 'beautiful Elephant Ivory scales'...stag horn handles..more like it...?..there's no shortage of Herman Williams's classic custom work available..so the 'supply' part of the Laws of selling values <Supply and Demand> is taken care of...which only leaves the 'demand' part...potential buyers know another one will invariably be available so it's hardly worth a 'one of' value IMO...
Nice classic Williams' Gunstock Trapper....a keeper rather than a seller IMO.....however without a photo of your knife how can any accurate info be given?....Hoo Roo

The "beautiful Elephant Ivory scales" could be worth thousands of dollars; in fines and court costs. Now-a-days only Elephants can have "beautiful Elephant Ivory"

Depends. HW dates most of his pieces and would hardly have used banned ivory if indeed it is ivory at all and not bone. Legal ivory is still legal to own.

No it's not bone. You can see the matrix lines in the ivory, plus it's older. I have lots of ivory knives. Pre ban ivory or hippo ivory. This is Elephant Ivory. I will post a picture soon. It's a pain in the arse to do it from my IPad or I'm just tech stupid.

Once you get your picture uploaded to a photo hosting site it's easy. Tinypic makes posting pictures very simple. I use dropbox and photobucket too. You should be able to cut and paste a web address from your iPad, and I can't imagine trying to run an iPad if you are just plain tech stupid. :D

Well the last two did not take . So there is a picture, I don't see a date. I got the knife via jbrucevoyles. So I know it's legit plus I'm educated enough to know what this is, since I collect ivory knives. I appreciate any comments or knowledge. I'm trying to get a feel for the worth cause I'm gonna have to liquidate a bunch of my knives to finance wife ' strip to take care of her dying mom in England.(Kingston on the Temps)
