Nice 77UH, this one is an 877. My display list it as New in 1991.

Just got these off of the bay:
First up is a SC524

SC507 1992 Print of a Big bear Serial#0874. I'm awaiting for this one to come in so that I can clean it.

Hi Delmas --

The model 1st shows up in the catalogs under Schrade Cut Co - 1938 Model P2088 Smoker's Knife with a spear blade and a 'piercer' for piercing cigars or clearing a pipe

Listings carry over into Schrade Walden in the 1947 thru 1955 paperwork as Model 200

Yours has a 3rd blade with a rounded tip - looks like maybe that blade you see on a Doctor's Knife - for help in counting pills?

COOL !!

-- Howie

After I posted, I got to wondering how many backsprings yours has?
Thanks!
Howie

i think the third blade is for trimming the ends of cigars? it only has an edge on one side. what is amazing is that all three have tight spring action and really snap into place. not sure how to count them but it appears to be just three one for each blade? cool that something this old could still be basically in new shape as far as action and use.

Wow, that is really nice Saddlebum.
Amazing condition.

Thanks. It took awhile to find a nice one. It did have a small burr from factory grinding with a burn spot at the tip of the clip. It bothered me so I brushed it off with a small wire wheel. Anyone ever seen an 882Y complete with a plastic tube or original packaging? I haven't. If someone has a picture, I would like to see it. It might be like the tubes that the 225H came in, very seldom seen.

Yes, they came in the tube.

It is a cool pattern, and hard to find them without pin cracks coming off of the big birdseye rivets.

Thanks! I was sure they did, I just hadn't seen one before, I don't think. Thanks for the great pictures!

Around 2005 a box of those knives sold for about $15 each. I can not remember if the Factory Box had ten or twelve knives in the pack.
I do remember the seller started to sell them one at a time, when he could not sell them together.
At the time, I did not know I should have bough them all. However, this was "one of the big ones that got away".
Since that day I often see used ones on eBay and think I should have got one for my collection.
The big problem with collecting, is that you can not always buy every thing you see all the time - and thinking back, I have only missed out 2 or 3 times.
This is without dough, looking back now; the worst desertion I have made since I started collecting Schrade knives.

I hate it when that happens! I'm sure every collector has at least one of those stories. I know I do and I still cringe with regret everytime I think about it. I think people are hanging on to these 882Ys. Schrade Walden must have made a million of them. I don't even see too many used ones. I got lucky, I payed-up pretty good for this one, but I got lucky. Still, it was less than what your 877UH went for the other day, just to give you an idea. You did good on that one. The 'EBAY FACTOR', que the Twilight Zone music...........

This arrived last month, the week we lost my Dad...I just remembered it.
