What's your newest Buck knife

Menard's was having a 15% off what's in the sack sale. Bought a
Spitfire for $23.16. No horizontal or vertical play in the blade in locked position. Blade movement is smooth, no gritty feel, better than a custom 110 I bought a couple of years ago. Blade grind is very even, but blade is dull. It is a keeper.

Buck 105 Pathfinder!

Never considered myself a collector...but going over it, I was surprised at how many I've accumulated since the mid 70's!

311 Slim line Trapper
422 Bucklite
192 Vanguard
Buck Strider SBMF Folder
347 Vantage Pro
342 Vantage Pro
110 Folding Hunter 50th Anniversary, plus another regular model
112 Ranger
303 Cadet
301 Stockman
389 Canoe Jigged Bone
105 Pathfinder (2020)

All but 4 were carried and used.

I've been wanting to build some of these combos since Buck offered the prototype Micarta handles on some of the fixed blades. This is the 103 &105 set. Using the best leather Ive been trying to stock pile. Micarta and Leather, what a patina this will develop over use and time.

That is some really beautiful work Makael. I just purchased a twin set of green micarta 103 & 118 that has the 115 pouch. They haven’t arrived yet and the person I purchased the set from isn’t 100% sure if they all were together originally as there is no box unfortunately. I’ll post a picture when they arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. I must admit the Buck 115 pouch doesn’t look nearly as nice as Makael’s work, I am impressed. Come to think of it I would love a suede left-hand Kalinga sheath. However, I need to recover after several purchases as of late. Hey, I can think of worse ways to spend the money, besides it makes me smile when I look at them.

F FLINT77 , those spacers still occurred in 1981. DM

Thanks David! So looks like the knife likely dates to 1981. Was Buck using 425M on the 120 in 1981 or were they still using 440C? Seems like I read an old post where you mentioned that the fixed blades didn't switch to 425C until maybe 1985 (?).

The irony of "values" doesn't escape me.
They can say anything they want.
What they do has a pretty loud voice also.

The Filson knife is cool.
I like the handle and blade color. I almost added it to a Filson order I placed at Christmas. But found a Top's Tex Creek that I preferred.
I'm expanding my horizon's Thank-You very much!

Don't know anything about Filson, but the handle looks like the same natural canvas micarta used on the compadre pro models for 2020.

looked the same to me too, but maybe it's a different material. I read up on the tin cloth, for jackets and hats and such. makes sense for those applications, not sure any advantage it would have being scales of a knife, vs. the micarta. on knife handles..... seems marketing more than usefulness to me, but what do I know.

I like the 104. The SK one is the best.
The Filson knife is just another variant. Heck folks collect knives with different date codes.

I wish Buck made more carbon fixed blade knives.
The ground combat knives are cool, but not my thing, and they don't even have them on the website.

Some small carbon fixed blades for edc would be cool.
They could carakote the heck out of those.

F FLINT77 , Refer to post 2154 & 2156. I don't know of a 425C steel. DM

Buck went to fine blanking knives in 1981 as it was found that 440c steel wore down the tooling. So, they went to 425m steel, late that year. A fuller hollow grind can be seen on knives after this switch. Plus, the spacer change. DM

Thanks,

Yeah, I was just trying to figure out of this 120 would be 440C or 425m (the 425c was a typo), since this knife has one black spacer at the guard and two black spacers at the pommel, and possibly dates to sometime in 1981.

also, since that 120 put me up to 4 100 series knives (102, 103, 118, 120), I decided that it was the point of no return and I had a gift card to a local bow shop so today I picked up a brand new 119

I also had an amazon gift card so I ordered a 105 - supposed to be here Friday.
