What's your newest Buck knife

So, today was an amazing day at the local swap meet.

1996 model 560. Definitely a grail find. Needed a lot of cleaning, paint was bubbling from some light rust. Stripped off all of it like the world's most excruciating scratch-off ticket. Smoothing out as I work the crud out of the action. Wish I could disassemble... Added a Kwik Thumbstud.
Had the pouch I picked up from a yard sale a few months ago. Was curious was it was for, as it was tight on a standard 110. I think it's a proper match.

2011 model 846 in 13C26. Needed a full breakdown and thorough cleaning, and had to improvise a few screw replacements, but she's solid. Handle texture seems like a pocket wrecker, and construction is batshit crazy, but what a terrific knife.

All for about the cost of 5 gallons of gas.

Hell. Of. A. Day.

I had a box of odd 112's waiting on my desk when I came home from the VA on Tuesday night! A couple made my top 10 list of odd 112's but I just haven't took decent pictures yet and most truly deserve it. After the Buckineers game is over today I'll post pics of the prototype auto 112..

I just had to share another one in the box of 'Rare Odd One of One and Prototype' 112's on my desk. Over the last year or two I've added a few to the collection but it's been mostly newer ones. This one goes way way back! It was part of a 110/112 set made for a Buck executive in brown micarta in the same time frame the original '5 pin' regular issues in ebony were made . It's a little grungy and the bolsters are slightly pitted but it shows no signs of being sharpened. I think I can safely say it's definitely a one of one.20221023_154009.jpg20221023_153008.jpg20221023_152927.jpg

May not quite qualify as New but it was my father's I found in a little container with some old Cases and Boker tree's. It hasn't seen the light of day since at least 1994, probably a good bit longer since as long as I can remember he carried an old Leatherman. Haven't quite figured out the date codes yet (I don't have the sheath or any packaging). Scales are coming a little loose as well so I'm not sure how much I get to use it. But it's good little piece of him to have.

Blade looks pretty full.😊👍 If/When you sharpen it you'll want to use Silicon Carbide stones or diamond plates. Buck's 440C laughs at Arkansas Oil Stones. Of course the easiest way to sharpen it is send it in to Buck for a SPA treatment (It'll look new when you get it back. Oh, and they'll fix the loose covers.) and request the EDGE 2000 specifications rather than the "Historical" edge. (Edge 2000 is ~30° inclusive. Historical is 50-60° inclusive, and convex. The Edge 2000 cuts and slices much better, and holds a working edge longer.)

2 Dot, '74-'80. Most likely late '77-'80 version, with the three large cover pins/nails. Maybe a Series 5 Variation 6? or variation 7?.
The '74-'76 two dot's had two small cover pins/nails. My '74-'76 two dot, a series 5 variation 5, if I remember right, has the two small cover pins/nails.

Blade

If the spa treatment is recommended here that's good enough for me. I'll get ahold of buck and see what they can do for me

If you send it in to Buck to fix the loose scales make sure they know it has a lot of sentimental value. They will do as little or as much as you want them too. If mine I would keep as much 'Character' as possible and not have the blade and bolsters polished to like new..Just clean, sharpen and fix the handle. That way it will still look like your Dad's knife and not a Ebay rescue.

If they can sharpen and tighten the scales would be great. The rest of it took hard work to aquire and I'd like to keep it that way for sure.

Make sure to specify you want the original blade grind/contour maintained. If not, you will get EDGE-2000, a fantastic edge on 440C but not at all like the original. I have one Buck 110 Two-Dot with EDGE-2000 for a user, but the rest of my older Buck Knives have their original blade grinds. OH

I may just have them fix the scales. Like most of the people here I'd wager, I've got hundreds of hours into sharpening my collection. Fixing the scales I'm not setup for though and would send it in for that. It's good to hear they have good customer service.

AH!! That Paradigm is beautiful Tiguy, never seen it before. Has it been discontinued! I went to eBay and there is nothing showing. I kept looking and found them at Knifecenter.com. The auto has no button to activate but push the whole bolster and that pivots to release the blade, it also locks the blade when closed is how I interpreted the review in Knifecenter.

Thank you, I saw some on the bay. If you swing the left bolster and press the flipper tab, a spring opens the blade. It’s almost like a safety device. The label on the box says 2022, so I don’t think it is discontinued.

My multi 112 deal worked out and this is one I'm glad I replaced! Right at the start of Covid-19 I had this BOTM and the 1 of 18 Joe Houser Custom with the full chip flint 109 blade and Carbon fiber handle on my desk..All my kids and grandchildren were moving back home and I was making Thousand dollar plus runs for TP and supplies and felt like I would rather have 6 whole Kentucky dry cure country hams ( for all those dang beans lolol!) than the pair of 112's..
The shieth I asked Ryan to make for me with my BCCI LM number for a Take-Apart display I'm planning for next year's Blade Show. 20221029_175952.jpg20221029_175747.jpg
