Hey Guys, Do you carry a different knife for situations where it would be inappropriate to whip out you tactical folder?? What Knife is it?? Mine is an Opinel 6
I carry a custom fixed blade by KFU in my back pocket all the time. But I keep a case cv sodbuster next to my wallet for any sheeple situation.
I always have a SAK classic on my keychain. The scissors are useful and I feel comfortable to lend it if someone else needs a knife.
It's weird, because before getting into BF, I never EVER thought about this issue. I still don't really get it, and I rarely hesitate to pull out whatever big tactical folder I'm carrying. But that's probably more because of where I live than anything else. We have pretty knife- and gun-friendly laws in FL, and that's about the only reason I still live here. Maybe my folders just aren't big enough for anyone to notice (Emerson CQC-7 usually)? Or maybe when you're 300 lbs a big knife looks small in your hands? I dunno. If it was an issue, though, I guess I'd use the custom I got on here from Mr. Willis.
Either my Bark River PSK, smallest fixed blade I own, or a Vic Officier, or maybe my Case Canoe. I'll reach for one of those even though I usually carry a 4" fixed blade as well.
If I'm carrying my Military I'll use my Military. I'm not breaking any laws so I'm not worried about what people around me think. I don't call them sheeple either. As I said in an earlier post, it's not uncommon around here to see someone using a knife. There are some places I work at like jails or certain government installations where I can't carry a knife other than a utility razor depending on the job. In those cases I carry a Leatherman Charge.
After scareing a sheepboy manager at "chilis" by waving open my Emerson roadhouse I am now more aware. In the past it was less of am issue that I fear it is today.
Most any sub-3 1/2" Traditional pattern, usually a Northwoods medium Stockman or today it was a Case Chestnut Bone CV Swayback Jack. I do usually carry a sheeple friendly knife so as not to raise eyebrows with the common folk.
Here's a pic (Not a great pic) of what I believe to be my ultimate sheeple knife it's a Case Peanut in Rough Black which is slowly becoming one of my favorite handle materials.
Benchmade Aphid. It still has a black blade and is assisted but small enough so kids don't run away screaming.
