• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

What's your survivla knife??

I work in an area where carrying a lot of hardware is forbidden. Pocket knives are marginally acceptable, so on a day-to-day basis, I only carry a small slipjoint in my right front pocket.

When in town on my days off, I add a BM 630, the large Skirmish, in my left front pocket and a HAK around my neck.

If I go out into the field, I carry these:

Krein TGS and Busse Steel Heart

The TGS is just a smidgen under 4" of D2 while the SH is 7.5" of INFI (of course). Both are 3/16" thick stock. The big one rides my left hip in counterweight to the revolver while the little one gets clipped to the strap of whatever it is I am carrying on my back.

Never without my custom wharncliffe slip joint pocket knife. When I am working I add a Microtech LCC. Off work I prefer a fixed blade and carry a Busse Game Warden SAR.
But the question asked which one would you not go to the woods without? Pack has a Busse basic 9 and a Wave. So many choices.............

Thanks The Chef and Doc Canada! I have been able to use it several times now and it works great. The knife is everything I wanted it to be. I would like the handle cavity to be a bit bigger but that would possibly weeken the handle.

I had a couple cheapo survival knives when I was a kid but they were both two piece and broke after some use.

Used to be a Buck 119 but I replaced it (well, not really *replaced* as it rides in my truck) with an F1. Also carry a Buck 501 in each of two packs. However, my always, never without it for a second, is a tiny Victorinox Classic which is carried in my pocket daily. I also placed one in my little belt pack along with a 501. My daypack, which is my main carry-out in-the-boonies pack carries the F1, a Buck 501, and a Leatherman Squirt P4. Truck also has a Leatherman Juice in the glove box.

Leatherman Blast is what I always have on me. In my pocket on my keychain I always have a Gerber LST. In my right front pocket I have a single blade slippie. So those I guess. Much of the time I also have a Buck 110 also.

For about 18 years now it has been a Buck 105 Pathfinder. It is always in my BOB along with a Gerber Multitool. Plus whatever I'm EDCing that day.

These have to be my three favorite that I carry every time I venture into the wild. I carry a larger chopper as well. Moras are just light and do what I need them to do. This is my 2000 and Clipper. The Vic Farmer has everything I need. I'm not just partial to Mora. I have used many other knives in the past. The Buck 119 was one of my main survival knives for a long time.

Here another old thread I like... Be interested to know if people's blade choices have changed any:

my edc right now is a vic farmer too - but the one I wouldn't head into the bush without is my new Brusletto Troll Kniven

Nice!
I was waiting for Ragnar to get the Helle Tollekniv blade back in stock, it looks a lot like your blade.
But its been out of stock since November!
Last month i finally said thats enough waiting and bought an Enzo kit instead.
Just finished it up last week, i love it!
The Enzo , my Wetterlings and a SAK/Multitool would be my survival choice.
My edc right now is a Leatherman XE6/Vic Classic/Buck Mini-trapper.

I've been looking at Spydercos again though, the Centofante III looks intriguing.

TH,

I was looking at Ragnar's the other day, at that knife and the Profilerskniv (sp?), they look like great knives.

Yes that is a Machax next to the Nessie, I don't have a shot of it next to the Machax, but here's a couple more:

Most survival situations are not planed and I am sure that most of us do NOT carry a big heavy chopping type knife on our person. Therefore it probably would be what you have on you at the time. For me, as for many others, that would mean a folder. I always have a SAK on me and usually a pocket clip type folder.

As far as a survival knife, I really don't have any special one. I almost always take my More SS Clipper when I go outdoors for a Hike or hunting/fishing trips. I have the Stomper made Super Duty which will always go camping with me. I am also starting to carry the new Stomper woodcraft with me most of tghe time.

Unless I am in an area where I can't (which is pretty rare) I ALWAYS have my necker, SAK outrider, and my foorst forged sheath knife on me. Just always.

I've since wrapped 550 over the waxed linen on the utility knife
