You've got such a handsome setup, Mtnfolk Mike. Those ML knives are just plain cool. I'm a big fan of that last one, what are the size specs on that?

Hmmm. I'll take these two.

khukhri House Bahadur and a little trade knife i handled with some wenge.

My selection will probably change next week.

Ilbruche- Can you tell me more about that top blade? I hadn't seen the khukri house before, but just checked out their website. Their 8" survival set looks wicked. Have you used their stuff much? Do you know what the steel is? That's dirt cheap!

I'm pretty sure the steel is old leaf springs similar to what HI uses. I etched the blade with FeCl and it shows a distinct temper line along the edge. It is my go to chopper for clearing trees in the backyard. It takes off 1" diameter limbs like they were matchsticks. This one is full tang with water buffalo horn scales.

If you want better info on their blades I'd ask over at the HI forum. I'm sure someone there will have more experience with them. This is the only KH blade I own.

The only offset to the cost is shipping, but it still is a good deal.

Scott, got some specs on that thing?:)

That model is the Tusker. It's made with 1084 steel. It's 12" overall with a 7" blade, 3/4" choil, 1/4" thick by 1 1/2" wide. This is the only knife being made with 1084 steel.

Fallkniven S1 is always with me for camp chores and the like.
Mora for fine work and whittling.
and either a Busse Hell Razor or a Cold steel tomahawk for chopping.

The long lanyard is called a Baldric Rig. It allows you to carry the knife over your shoulder and across your torso. It also gives you a lot of emergency 550 cordage. I make these and will tell you they are pretty simple to make once you get the motion down. It is just a square knot over and over again.

Here is a tutorial I wrote.

Hey Kev
slightly of topic but is that knife a custom Fox River or a North Star My FR seems to have a half inch between grip and cutting edge:)

I'm going camping this weekend and am going to give two new ones a shot. A Jens Anso Ceugster fixed blade and an Anso Bastid folder. And I always have a Swisstool X with me...
