What's your threshold for "too expensive?"

I've bought and used swords that cost $1,000 and up. Never really liked the idea of it though.

I suppose my maximum limit varies, but lately it has held at about $150. I have found that I can get pretty much any kind of knife I want for about this much, so there isn't a pressing need to go beyond it.

I haven't bought anything over $170, but I'm probably going to end up buying a new ZT.
That's right around the most I've spent as well. Got my Junglas for $160 shipped. :)

It annoys me when people don't know what their merchandise is worth and they end up charging too much. One guy at a flea-market had a set of SOG Throwers and wanted almost the full MSRP price for them. I got the same set for $35 at a gun show.

200$ is the absolute most I would spend on a knife. 100$ is the most I have spent on a knife. It was a black coated Manix 2. Anything over 200$ is stupid IMO, and I would rather buy a gun.

around $300 or so, mainly for swamp rats, folders around 150$ or less, someday i might break my limit and get a waki tho >.>

What I have found is that I hate using expensive knives, I find myself not using them and going with something else.

I love beating the hell out of a Ontario SP8, RD9, The Hoodlum, AK Bowie or any Himalayan Import...but when I get something nice like a Mistress or a Fehrman it just goes in the safe...

So I guess the threshold for me is around a hundred bucks, probably why I love the Beckers, Ontarios, KaBars and COld Steels of the world.

$220 Is the most expensive knife I have right now (M4/Ti Spyderco Military), though I also have a 560 on preorder. So as of right now, $300 is probably my limit, any higher than that and I use the money on the list of 10 or so guns I want to get (just bought a Mossberg 930 SPX for $625). Although I really do want a S110V or 3V Strider SMF, so maybe later down the road I'll go with that over a gun.

$200 generally. I made a big exception for my sebbie though, but i had just gotten a lot of money for my 18th birthday and HS graduation.

300 to 350 USD for me. Provided that knife has excellent materials, F&F, warranty and meets my subjective criteria.

Well this obviously depends on three things: 1. How much disposible income do I have?
2. How bad have I gotta have it?
3. Is my wife gonna find out about it?

The most I have spent so far, on one knife...was around 200. I wanted a Strider but I wasn't prepared to drop 350+ on a folder so I went with a MFS fixed blade and it was exactly 200 bucks.

Right now as far as folders go, I'm happy with ZT/Kershaw and Benchmade, and I don't really see any need in dropping anymore cash than what is needed for one of those. I do see one of the titanium frame lock ZT's in my collection before to long, so I will have to be prepared to go above that 200, but it'll be worth it.

Currently, its $200. I have a Tilt on preorder, so whatever my dealer charges me will be what I pay, but I'm expecting at least $220+. But. I have a Kingdom Armory BtB-F ordered...and with all the features I want its $650. And from there I'll probably be done with buying new knives for awhile because I have 3 years left with my double majors.

I've never paid more than $157 for a knife. That may change one day, but for my needs and current financial situation, I don't have any desire to spend more than that.

$200 max. usually for me , although I own a few above that.

I am recently making efforts to find high quality, well made knives well under that price point and there are many to chose from. I also don't feel so bad being hard on knives and marking them up if I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on them. I have a lot of $60-$120 dollar knives that perform just as well as ones twice the price. BHK, Becker , and Esee just to name a few.

I haven't bought a knife over 500 dollars. Would I? Yes. If I had the chance to purchase a certain knife I would have paid close to 900 for it. Paying anything over $900 for 1 knife would be hard... I think.

After the Tilt ships (might not be till im old and gray) then I will see how high i can bump my ceiling.

I think the most I spent a knife in the past, was about $250.
These days, I don't have a hard cutoff point, but when a knife is over $100, I really think about whether I truly want/need it, and if I can find a comparable one for less.

Right now I don't really care about rare materials, limited productions, etc. just high quality build. around 400-500 is the most I spend.
