What's your woods walking knife right now ?

A GOSSMAN PSK.

Hi Bear I have on the two sheaths 3 pouchs one for the firesteel or the matchsafe,
then the other pouch in the front carrys a E-Z lap diamond sharpener with 65 pound
line wraped around it and orange tape. then there is a pouch in back with a little flat knife :Dthat is not shown. Then on the front there is a loop to carry my chainsaw tool to tighten the chain or take of the sprocket cover off.
And you are right I love the 5" blade length from cutting french bread in the morning and spreading butter on it after it toasted, to cutting a wrist thick
willow tree in 5 snap cuts that took a 4" PSKK to do the same thing 17 wacks
to cut through it. I used the knife and firesteel this last weekend to start some fire works with thisle down that I collected in a field next to Cabela's
in Omaha Ne. and yes I carried my knife and sheath all through Cabela's and with know problem shirt tucked in an all. You should have seen and heard the oohs and ahhhs as I started the fireworks at my mother-in-laws in Bellevue Ne. a suburb of Omaha. I said to the family I was going to start
the fireworks with a spark from my fire steel and and got some looks like really. I put some thisle down on the fuse and then whipped out my Pathfinder and firesteel struck the steel and sparks galor the thisle down started and I just walked away and then kaboom I got to see there faces as I was walking away from the lit thisle and then the fuse. It was awesome to see there
exprestions as the fire works lit and went off. Kathy and I also gave
her mom a knife. she wanted a knife for her kitchen.

Take care all I hope that answers the question Bear,
Coaldigger I sent you an e-mail I hope you got it. If not let me know.
It is about the 6" Pathfinder I finished up today.

Lately I've been carrying my Bravo I when hiking along with my ever present Barkie PSK.

If I'm just woods walking I carry my Kalista.

Difinatly my Fehrman Shadow Scout. It has been my companion on all my recent hikes and camps. Its like a little big knife, will do light chopping and easy to carry.

Today it was a little Moki Drop point folder. FRN and rubber inserts. I've got it sharpened up way thin. It weighs so little and palms so well it can be held effortlessly with just the ring and little finger, effectively still giving me both hands free for the task I was doing. Works great both ways up, and it's not afraid of the bucket. I like it for a rabbit chase.

I bought this J.R. Cook forged hunter to use on long backpacking trips and even major hikes in my local area. Although many would have this be a safe queen, I bought it to use. 4 1/2" 1084 blade, German silver guard, Desert Ironwood enclosed tang handle. The knife has an amazing balance and feel.

DRMUDD Great choice for the color of you handles.
alot of neat knives guys.
Great thread pitdog I just went for a walk with the misses and kelly girl and cut a cotton wood tree that was almost 2" thick with just 3 snapcuts and am really liking this 6" Pathfinder.

Take care all,
Bryan

I usually reach for one of several carbon steel trappers that I own. Lately it's been a Boker more often than not.

Have been carrying my Pathfinder made by one Bryan Breeden a lot lately. Works great for camping, fishing, and whatever else I may be doing outside. Usually pair that with an SAK Farmer or a Great Eastern Cutlery folder.

Usually here lately its my Rat-chet,Frosts Mora Swedish Army knife, and a Rucksack or SwissTool unless I'm going to be making a blind or clearing brush for some reason. This changes when the weather gets cold enough to quickly kill you though.

Just bought a new knife recently... It's a Finnish puukko, made by Ahti Puukko in Kauhava. Features a 7,7 cm (~3") carbon steel blade, oiled curly birch handle, and a nice deep leather sheath. The knife is shaving sharp, and seems to be pretty good quality for a ~30 EUR knife. Well, I didn't of course need yet another knife, but ya'll know how this works... the damn thing just yelled my name :D

This knife is so light that I decided to try and make a neck knife out of it. So I made a paracord neck-strap with a brake-away ring, and attached a fire steel to it. I tried it on for a few hours, and this thing is so light I almost forgot it on. So, I think at least next weekend this will be my knife of choice for my day-hike. I'll probably use this as my "woods walking knife" for quite some time now.

Thanks :)

I took those pictures in my car at the parking lot (I'm at work now), so the colors and contrast are all screwed up... I'll have to take some better ones at home.

Spooky,

Ragweed forge has them

Thanks Riley! I just noticed that when I was perusing his site for some wood and bare blades. By the way, that Rucksack rocks! I've been carrying it just about every day. It fits my hands like a glove!

Thanks :)

Thanks for the ones you already posted, still pretty handsome for parking lot photos.

Ok, here's a better one.

Damn... can't wait to really get to test this knife. I wasn't even supposed to go on a hike next weekend, but now I kinda have to :D

If it's just a stroll in the woods, then this guy:

I just realized how nice a clean these knives looked new. It's a good thing I take pictures of my knives first before I start using them.

Bryan, seeing your 6" Pathfinder is making me anxious to get home and try out the 6" CSK you made me! I figured it's going to be a pretty good chopper!

Stingray, between your re-handled Mora (I like that! Need to try that myself!) and the Case Medium Texas Jack your wife got for you last Christmas, you are SET, my friend! That's a great "trail combo!"
