What's your woods walking knife right now ?

this is my new woods knife. It will be my main blade, with rotation being shared with my nessie.

I got that Tidioute recently too, and it hasnt left my hip since. I always have a farmer on me, so that comes too. Except I lost my red one yesterday:mad:

I would for sure carry the Hikers Backup From Stomper. John made the back pocket sheath and I made a belt carry one for it as well. Great little knife that works hard but you hardly know it's there. Get you One!!

That would have to be my #3, great little knife. Usually paired with a BM 551, but soon it will be some type of slipjoint.
As you can see I can get tiny curls, and large ones. Oh the benifits of a convex grind. :D

Fonly, those are some nice looking curls:thumbup: Convex is great!
You should try a Scandi sometime soon too.

For just a walk around the woods,I usually carry something like a Fox River, but I have to admit that it changes pretty often.

Stingray, between your re-handled Mora (I like that! Need to try that myself!) and the Case Medium Texas Jack your wife got for you last Christmas, you are SET, my friend! That's a great "trail combo!"

Ron

Thanks, you are right, I absolutely love this pair, and my Case truly is one of my most prized possessions.

You should definitely try doing a re-handle. Ragweedforge sells all kinds of blank blades, even ones that are a little thicker, or longer than the Mora if you want. It's so rewarding to have a vision of what you want, then be able to hold it in your hand and know that you made it.

Damn... can't wait to really get to test this knife. I wasn't even supposed to go on a hike next weekend, but now I kinda have to :D

That is a real beauty!!!
And yes, you have no other choice than to take it hiking, or else it will be insulted and will not perform as well as it could:p

wow.. great looking blades folks...

here is my woods blade of choice as of late....:D

my 1/8 thick (i also have a 3/32 thick), JEFF H designed, breeden "COMPACT BUSHCRAFTER"... i love this thing....

Man, Scandi, flat and convex are my favorite grinds, absolutely awesome in the woods. I had a plain style mora for a while, great in the woods. Also I found it work great for cleaning game, I did up a few partridge one night and It sailed through them.

hey cliff no chance you'd take a pic of you kit contents eh?:D

My dad and I went for a walk down to the river from my house over the 4th, and I took a Gossman with me.

Hard to leave this one home. Brusletto carbon steel & my handle.
:D

My woods walking knife right now is a Landi MPS. Its a big knife in a little knife's body. I just finished some new leather for it and should have some pics done shortly. I also EDC a Schatt & Morgan scout.

Ebbtide, that's a beauty!

Stingray, I know what you mean! I have re-handled many knives to my liking, and I like the way your ideas come to reality when doing so. When I get home next week, I'll be re-handling an old Edge Brand Solingen Bowie knife and putting a handle on a Fallkniven F1 blank I picked up a while back. I am going to have to do a Mora blade now, though!

Hi all, Ron yea that 6 incher is a sweet feeling blade that you
are getting I am really liking my 6" pathfinder it has already cut
about 40 branches in different thickness and cut my sweet bread
and spread the butter on this morning and then sliced my tomatos
and black olives this after noon for lunch and I cut the head off a little bird
that kelly girl brought to kathy and I this morning while we were
out cutting trees out of a fencline.
The blade thickness is 5/32" and I am thinking that it is just about as good
so far as 1/8" thickness for the all round thickness for a everyday carry
and use, for me that is. What works for one does not allways work for another.

Kelly Girl did not kill it she brought it to me to do and then was happy to take
the dead bird for a ride in here mouth as she wonders around the places we go to cut trees at.

There are so many great looking knives being pictured. It is truely
amazing. The diversity of them all it goes to show what people have
for there thoughts on what they carry and use.

PITDOG again great thread:thumbup:.

Take care all,

Bryan

no Pics:(. But My current WWK Is a BRKT Canadisn Special Paired with a Mikro and a Case Stockman w/Orange G-10 scales.

Replaced the Wave with the SAK Farmer. Lighter weight , better saw & I never needed pliers in the woods.

Cliff

Well for me it use to be a Ontario TAK-1, or for serious time in the woods, either my Gerber BMF, Kershaw 1005, or a Ranger RD9. These days it is either one of these two:

Gossman WTK.

Always have my Scibeer Woodsman SAK on me too.. :)

MrCoffee, I've grown real fond of my Scibeer modified Farmer with the scissors! No matter what else I am carrying, I always seem to have it in its nylon pouch on my belt.
