Wheeler Fighting Bowie Project :) ( UPDATED CUTTING & FORGING VIDEOS)

Nick, WOW, once again I am speechless. The combinations in this project have melded perfectly. Jim has captured every detail with his extraordinary flair. That sheath, well Paul nailed it, even the static hole. And the KNIFE clean PERFECTION!!!!

Well the knife showed up today and words can not express how pleased I am

This knife is clean and straight forward with no embellishments but it has performance features that make this piece IMHO compare to a Stradivarius

The sculpted handle has a flat spot from the pin to the guard that make this index as well as any coffin handle I have ever felt which leads to a born back cutter

The pommel flares out to afford a tremendous stop

The upper guard is just the perfect size to get a thumb behind

The flare gives the handle the perfect purchase to facilitate snap cuts

It is pitched perfect for a saber grip

The blade

The blade is a masterpiece in design

Its massive bellie combined with radical distal taper is going to make this piece perform at a different level

Add to this a perfect clip mixed with a point that is not a needle point but done to perfection and you have IMHO one of the finest performance oriented Bowies ever done

Paul's leather work as usual is sublime

Can't wait you get it on and run some drawing drills etc

Thank you Nick

Thank you Paul

Thank you Coop

This knife will not go in the display box :)

When time permits I will do a video explains the thought that went into this design and hopefully so,e video of this knife performing

The mail person dropped it on my way out the door so I brought it to my office to open :)

Yeowzaa! Can't wait to wrap my fingers around that handle. The blade looks wild. Bet it handles great

Uhhh...what the heck are you eatin' there, Joe? I'm referencing the thing that looks like a small troll's head with gravy on it.

Its a trout head with gravy on it :)

Its chicken

That knife makes a stupid day a distant memory. Thanks. Take that to Scrum and see some Agile Methodology.

Mitch

Mitch I had to google that to see what it meant and I'm still not sure :)

This knife might possible be one of the most performance oriented piece I have come in contact with

Sooooooo I'm gonna soak some rolled tatami mats and have a go :)

HaHaHa.... LMFAO :D Thanks buddy... I needed a really good laugh!!! :D

I'm glad you like it so far Mr. Joe Paranee!!! :D

I don't think my mail girl likes me anymore. She loves bringing packages up to the shop because she's a dog lover, and having two man-sized dogs rushing out to greet her and love all over her is a happy point in her day. But the other day.... the ONE day I wasn't here to meet her out at the truck, was the day she had my 70 pound box of 416 stainless round stock...!

When I got home and found the box on my front porch, I could just feel her anger for having to carry it all the way from the driveway to the front door... :foot: ;)

So yea.... I've got all the 416 we need for this project about 40 times over. :D

I wasn't sure at the start if I'd like this Bowie - it just seemed so wide to me but now I see it on Joe's desk - the sheath package and the micarta handle, well it has really grown on me.

It's just no nonsense, all the frills are there in the execution, the precise grind lines, great ergonomics in the grip and a great sheath. It's certainly a knife I'd like to get out and do a bit of cutting with. Great package Joe, Nick and Paul. Another fantastic bowie project through the gates.

Pootsy

Thanks for the kind words :)

This knife was really thought out

The big belly is something I really wanted in this design

Here is the reason

The reasons a Japanese Katana is such a powerful cutter

edge geometry plays a role

Curvature of the blade

When used correctly and drawn thru the target it becomes a powerful cutter

If you swing it like a bat you loose everything

You must in effect pull the blade thru the target

The belly of this blade gives you the curve

The distal taper gives you the power

If swung correctly I believe this Bowie is really gonna cut :)

That's a slick knife. Look forward to seeing it in action. You gonna bring it to BLADE so's I can coonfinger it?

It will be at Blade on display at The Diskin USA Booth. I am hoping Nick is Too :)

With the release of Matts new flipper

Sam Lurquin is supposed to bring the Tsavo Proto for the project

David Mirabile will be displaying his knives also which by the way won best in show in their prospective classes the last two years

Jason Knight will hopefully have something kick ass like last years integral Kuk that went for a cool $ 6500.00 at bid

Dan Keffeler who is reigning cut Champion promised to stop in and hang out

All I can say is the booth will be rocking for sure :)

I am going to video all of the above and run the vids on here so anyone that wants to stop by and say hello is welcome :)
