Wheeler Fighting Bowie Project :) ( UPDATED CUTTING & FORGING VIDEOS)

Thanks Will

Of all trophies I value a good wall of bow shot whitetails above all

Only thing that comes close is mountain sheep :)

I get that. Mature whitetails are so intuitive and wily--they can actually out-think you--and sheep are so damn hard to get close enough to even with a rifle, let alone a bow. Tough, tough trophies. Nice.

A large box arrived today from Texas. I've yet to open it, however, I'll have a busy day tomorrow or Friday. :D

I love all types of hunting

I have been very fortunate to have been able to in years past do a lot of hardcore hunting

From Cape Buffalo in the Selous with a double rifle to high elevation hunting in the Pamirs and I'm kinda back where I started in that my passion for hunting has been consumed by bow hunting the same big whitetails that caught my imagination growing up on a farm here in Pa

Playing the chess match with a big mature ,heavily hunted whitetail really is a very challenging endeavor

Wind-routine and dumb luck all are a factor. Their only weakness is the Rut and that is an incredible thing in itself

Stand hunting a big whitetail is a painful endeavor for someone like me. Especially late in the season. While at times amazingly stimulating on the senses it can be brutally boring :)

But those few seconds of the brief encounter burns images to your cerebral cortex like nothing else in my life :)

The high elevation ram hunting pits you against the mountain and nature looking to pluck a cherry blossom so to speak

I imagine your native elk give you the same satisfaction

I have hunted elk and I can see were it could become very addictive :)

My best Bull is a 7X6 that scores about 350

I have been on better but they seem to always confound me :)

When I walk in someone's trophy room and I see a lot of African heads and exotics and please don't get me wrong I have big respect for all hunters its just that I am not overly impressed

Anyone that can shoot straight and has the time and money can bag good heads in South Africa

Nothing wrong with it and I respect and like it but certain animals usually come harder than others

So that is why I favor the Whitetail with my recurves

I'm back to where I started

Thank you, Joe. I envy your global hunting experiences, and I do know what you mean about whitetails--took my first buck over 50 years ago. You're right that the New Mexico elk are in a class of their own, and I enjoyed hunting them and the country they roam more than I could express when I lived there. Have not really taken stock of the hunting opportunities since moving to Washington State last year, but the Cascades are the kind of wild, beautiful country I love to spend time in. Coming up on age 64, I'm not able to do what I once did but I still love to spend a day in the back country with a good rifle (and knife :D) and the prospect of finding game just beyond that next ... :D

Well guys here we go :)

I asked Jim to keep the photo dark

I asked Jim to emphasize the belly of this beast

I asked Jim to highlight this blades radical dimensions

As usual Jim does not disappoint :)

Jim forgive me if I posted up wrong size

Jim's work clearly displays the proportions that make this blade so,etching quite different

In a world full of show Bowies ............ This one is all GO :)

Thank you Nick

Thank you Paul

Thank you Jim

Damn I need to get me a Wheeler bowie one of these days. Love the collaboration Joe and Nick, great work!

Beautiful knife and photos!
Excellent video with the water bottle. Too cool!
I had to go to the website and check out the recurves.

Oh man, upon seeing those pictures.... my heart is pounding - quite literally. Mike

Looking real good!

Is the static cord hole becoming Paul's signature?
Where can I find a big black stud like the one pictured (that just sounds wrong in so many ways) ?

Exceptional work by all artists involved - Thanks again Nick, Paul and Joe for making this happen.
Oops, forgot to give credit for the photo - kudos, Jim.

Thank you all for the kind words

Nick really nailed this one

Michael it is a drawer pull :)

I have one for you and if to you want will send it to Paul when the time comes

Nick nailed it alright !
So did Paul and Coop..
Thanks for this, Joe.

Doug

Thats an awesome Bowie knife you have created- I like everything about it. Handle beggs to be grabbed, blade beggs to be used. Congrats :thumbup::thumbup:

On a knife this big it really does not need a static line but it certainly can't hurt

It also doubles for a lashing point

The proper sheath is so critical in a package like this that I can not stress its importance enough
