Wheeler Fighting Bowie Project :) ( UPDATED CUTTING & FORGING VIDEOS)

Well done, my friend. Looks like the right answer, if you ask me. Great job on the video, as well. Lot of work goes into that, and you're making it look easy.

...Danzig, bro? Really? Are we like 14 again?;)

Just kidding, bud. Great stuff, all the way around. You and Nick really nailed this one.

I like Danzig :)

There is a version up with no music but I like the music it makes it fun

Thanks Matt

For Coop

Jim thank you for the great pictures

Also that was one take from start to finish on the dialog :)

Well done Joe. I enjoyed the video and it is great to see the blade in action and it potential.

I'm working on it but my old lady bitches :)

We might get some models for blade just so I do not have to just look at Matt & STeven

Edited to add STeven ....... What was I thinking :)

Well guys here is my video on the design of the Wheeler Fighting Bowie

A lot got edited to keep it at the 15 minute mark that UTube allows

I hope you all like it and that it helps show what makes this piece standout in a sea of well done knives

I learned something again, thanks Joe!

Here is a video of the boys from Cold Steel swinging a big Natchez Bowie

Watch them cut

In most cuts they are swinging for the fence

Big swings that leave them exposed and in an unprotected position if they would miss

They are not using a snap cut to get there speed up

They are using brut force which is unneeded if you learn the basics of the snap cut

Remember a miss and a big over swing lets you exposed

Look at some of their head positions after the swing

Their head is not where it should be in many shots

Impressive only to the uninitiated. Sells knives, I'll wager.

Love the frozen stance.

Do love the shape of their Natchez Bowie, though.

Lyn is definitely a character :)

I to like the Nachez

I broke out the laptop so I would be able to do the full-screen thing and Mr. Paranee did an exemplary job of not only showcasing Nick's awesome Bowie but the finer points of cutting.....damn! :D

MAN! Between Joe and that Bowie, I don't know what cuts the best!?! ;)

Thanks for sending Joe those mats, STeven......they went to very good use. :)

Thanks Dudley

I wanted to give the knife some life :)

I also wanted to give some information on use

Many do not understand the basics of the snap cut..... So I just wanted to do more than a review

Glad you guys like what Joe has done here as much as I do! :)

Here's what I've been staring at for quite a while now... ;) (well, that and the video camera...getting it all documented :)).

salt bath molten.jpg joe p heat treat rack.jpg

They wouldn't all quite fit on that rack. ;)

HaHa! :) Thanks my friend. :)

There is a pretty fascinating (to me anyway) thing that happens with the molten salt... when the blade comes up to temp, it visually disappears in the salt. That's why it looks like the thermocouple and the tang just end, and don't actually go down into the salt.

Science, you so crazy... ;) :D
