When it's not exactly Made in the USA - Hoback

Just watched another video by Jake Hoback of Jake Hoback Knives talking about the Husky. He clearly states, he’s showing the viewers the stuff “HE IS MAKING” not assembling or qc’ing, he explicitly states he’s making them. The knife is wholly Chinese according to his spreadsheet so he didn’t make crap. Doesn’t say he designed them either.

If Jake Hoback used this same verbiage when talking to dealers he’s clearly culpable and mislead everyone. He started out making knives in the USA, when he made the switch to overseas is unknown.
100%.

This Hoback guy got too big for his britches. The money was too good, he got corrupted by it, addicted to it. Sold out his name.
Lost his way from his humble beginnings. If they were indeed humble.

Building a business is like building a wall. One brick at a time. Until you have this big beautiful wall.

It can all come tumbling down in an instant if you forget where you came from.

My advice to Jake Hoback, especially since he seems to promote religion on his site, would be to own the ultimate mea culpa and beg for forgiveness.

How did I not know? We all knew but you, who wanted to defend a liar to the end. You and your buddy would not listen, but make no mistake we figured it out way before you.
He think us pegging the country of origin is akin to picking the powerball numbers lol his own words.

You STILL don’t get it. What you’re doing is like saying “it’s raining cats and dogs outside”… and I say “well, it isn’t coming down that hard”… and you proceed to say “what, you love the rain or something? Why are you defending the rain!?”

I’ve tried to tell you several times I’m not a Hoback fan but I also think people are overreacting.. you keep on insisting I’m here to defend the guy to the death and I’m not.

So how about “less” about what you think of me.. and “more” about the topic?

I don't understand any of your drivel, and I don't think anything about you

On topic we all knew, you did not

I think him and one other guy arguing the defense of hoback and then claiming it didn't happen makes him a liar. A whole bunch of other people chimed in to agree.

This is shocking. I bought a Husky a couple of weeks ago and had been loving it, thinking I got a well made USA made knife. But learning it was made in China makes me feel disgusted. Not bc Chinese knives are bad, but bc the lack of transparency, trying to pin responsibility on dealers, and feeling I overpaid by about $200.

It has pretty basic construction for the price. I’ve seen a couple ZTs built like this; with screws going straight through the front scale and backspacer, screwing directly into the titanium lock-side.

Most Chinese manufacturers will at least use a locating pin in the backspacer and hardly ever screw directly into titanium. But the Hoback doesn’t do neither. The only reason I initially accepted it on the Hoback was bc I thought it was made in a small USA shop by a few guys.

But if it’s mass produced in China, they can at least make it less basic. Use some Chicago style screws, or at least let it screw into the backspacer on both sides. But having it made better would probably eat into Hoback’s almighty profits. Hoping I can return it and put the money in an honest knife company.

Monday the wait times may be longer but call the dealer to work it out depending on where you bought it from. No way would I keep one if I paid that much and wasn't told the truth about where it was made.

Here he is saying all Jake hoback has done is get sassy in an email:

How is that for not defending him? All he's done is get sassy in an email? Lying. All throughout this thread. Eat your words.
Listen, this will be my one and only response to you.

1.) That was Thursday afternoon, post #130. What’s the post count of the thread now? Yeah, a lot has happened since then, and a lot of developments.

2.) How long are you going to keep spamming this thread with your screeching about me and 3D Anvil? Give it a damn rest already. FFS we know you think 3D and I are “lying trolls”… heard you the first 100 times… maybe you can move on from it?

You are so desperate for a fight no one cares to have with you. Just chill out already. It’s like every other post is you screaming about me and 3D. You’re spamming up the entire thread with your little petty grudge.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are a 🤡 keep lying. Lots of your posts to prove you are a liar. I love it.

From what I've heard it seems he hasn't been to forthcoming with his dealers. A few are disgusted with how he is trying to pin it on them. It's obvious he was being deceitful. If you sell your knives to a dealer and they list it as USA made, and you know it's not you should reach out and let them know the truth. He knew people would buy them with made in the USA listed, and purposely ignored it until he was cornered.

I've never owned a Hoback knife and now never will.

Let's see, you've defended him by incorrectly claiming he could advertise his knives as made in America if 50.1% of the labor was done here, defended him for failing to properly label goods that were made in China by incorrectly claiming that there was no need to, defended him by claiming he never said his knives were made in America, which given the video clip we have is explicitly wrong, talked about how all he did wrong was send a sassy email without ever apologizing or admitting that position was badly wrong and revising yours, defended him by assuming negligence on the part of all the dealers he had rather than granting the possibility he may have misrepresented his product, talked about how good his knives are, talked about how you plan to buy one, yeah, no idea why anyone would think you're here to defend him.
