When should I be worried....?

Yea..... a tracking number would be nice. Unless you still havent shipped it and are planning on doing so tomorrow. It takes me all of 5 minutes to get
oniline and check emails and update people when I need to.
 
If it doesn't arrive by WED..THUR at the latest, file a PP claim(if thats what you paid with), of course hoping you didn't use the dreaded gift option.
 
I will indeed go that route, thankfully the gift option was not used. I doubt I'll need to, I'm sure Viva is just busy and life's sort of coming down on him now. I trust he got it out/will get it out soon.
 
I can tell you that as someone who has outlaid money to a total stranger and then had them disappear on me for days it sucks ass (albeit on another forum). I dont buy the BS about not being near a computer either. I dont care if you work on a swordfish boat or are a firewatcher in the Klondike, there is NO EXCUSE for shoddy communication, short of your house burning to the ground. I think it sucks and the buyer has a right to be pissed. I would have opened a PP dispute on his ass by now if it was me. You can bet that gets people's attention and by some miracle they find their way to a computer pronto! I speak from experience... ;)

it's the fact that after all of this, even though you said it would arrive by thursday, you said before that you would provide the number, and you said before that it would arrive on 3 other occasions. So after 4 times not following through, and still not following through with the tracking number, instead of being hyper defensive, you should actually, do what you said you would do.

no one really likes following on the heels of broken promises

to be accurate, which you are not. I said it would be in the mail twice...and then yesterday said it would be there by thursday. two completely different things. if he doesn't get it by thursday he can feel free to file a complaint with paypal. i never gave him a date when it would be in his hands until yesterday.

Take a step back and look at things from an objective perspective. You're not helping yourself or your trading reputation by engaging in petty arguments over factual accuracy when there is unanimous sentiment that your execution of this deal was less than stellar. Those who buy/trade knives from other members on BladeForums are not being unreasonable by expecting purchases to be shipped in a timely fashion. Nor are they being unreasonable for expecting communication to be timely and honest. These assumptions are built in to every transaction conducted on this forum. For whatever reason, intentional or not, you've dropped the ball on both counts during the course of this transaction. Clearly, you can see there is unanimous consent amongst veteran members over this rather obvious fact. Now, this by itself does not make you an untrustworthy trader or a bad person--after all, we all fail to deliver what is expected of us from time to time (and I am certainly guilty of my fair share). But how one reacts to and handles his failings reveals much about his inner character; and this information will be used by others to form opinions regarding his trustworthiness, dependability, etc.

While your initial instinct to some of these posts may be to combat them, try suppressing this urge and thinking carefully about what your goal is here before you act. Being seen as combative is not in your long term interest, despite the short-term satisfaction it may give you. You're a gold member and you're going to want to establish a solid reputation. I would advise you to act more strategically. Acknowledge that you could have handled things a little better than you have , apologize, and give the man his tracking number. If it were me, I would offer a small refund of $5 or $10 as a demonstration of contriteness. It sends a message that you own up to your mistakes and inspires confidence in your character.

If more members understood this line of reasoning, I think many of these non-scam type cases could be preempted before hitting the GBU board.

So you didn't actually say when Chuka would get the knife that you've already received payment for, is that really a decent excuse?

If you didn't pay for tracking information, just say it rather than ignoring the request.

When I first read this, I thought that Chuka should relax more, but after reading your responses (yes, you have an attitude), I would say that he should worry.

I would say that my 100% positive rating should speak for itself. That and the dozen or so trades I have made here and on other knife forums. But thank you for insinuating that I am a crook.

I'm not insinuating anything, in fact, I am surprised that you have taken such a manner of response because you always seemed like a straight-up guy. But failure to answer direct questions (like you have again) and your attitude is not winning you any sympathy.

No- your bantor in this thread speaks volumes of who I'd be dealing with if I entered into a transaction with you.

You're doing yourself a huge dis-service by responding and continuing to respond in this thread.

The OP didn't mention you by name but you chose to respond here and not in a reasonable way.

It's a shame because I've seen you around and you seemed reasonable but your attitude here isn't.

As am I. I have a purchase from Viva that was supposed to have been put in the post the same time as yours. I to have asked for a tracking # so I don't have to bug him but have not received it as of today. As was said already guess we will find out tomorrow won't we and will post when I find out.
